I have been working at HealthTrust full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great vision on how to keep the members happy.

    Cons

Big machines often take a long time to get moving.

    Advice to Management

Don't just listen to new ideas. Give feedback on why it can or can't come to fruition

I have been working at HealthTrust full-time

    Pros

A large company so that you can see a broad view of the industry. Work that is meaningful. Company is effective and lowering costs for member hospitals. Healthtrust is likely the best healthcare GPO around. Work/life balance is generally respected.

    Cons

Very cliquish, very little mentoring. Promotions based on seniority and friendships. Skilled employees are not promoted and are used until they leave. Recurring problems are identified but never properly addressed. Great place if you are a people person, not great if you have other skills. Also, healthcare benefits are below industry average.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate what talent is you have, and promote based on talent. Listen to criticism and make real changes. Morale is very low in many areas, but people are afraid to speak up.

    Pros

Met a few great co-workers. Because of these co-workers, it makes the days easier to get through. :o)

    Cons

HORRIBLE LEADERSHIP from the top down! Don't ever think outside the box or offer any ideas...leadership WILL stake claim of YOUR suggestions and will make them their own. If you are not politically connected...or part of the admin cult...you are simply treated as a nobody. Too many people stepping on others faces in order to climb corporate ladder. HR leader(s) will make your life miserable if you address concerns. Leadership treads an extremely fine line of retaliating and bullying. If they say, "This is a safe environment to speak confidentially"...RUN!! This is a company that HCA should put under a heavy microscope and seriously consider an overhaul of many in leadership roles. It is a common phrase to hear how many leaders are friends or relatives of other leaders. This is a company that is under the HCA corporate blanket. Embarrassing if HCA prides itself as an "ethical" company. If applying and offered a position...keep your head down. Do the bare minimum b/c nobody, (in leadership), cares. With that, and you can just "make the donuts" you should be fine.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring your friends and relatives. Stop throwing food related events for yourselves and appreciate those that do all of the work to make you look good and keep you in your positions. Don't throw all of your stock in one leader who promises, (2+ years post his hire date), to get a single engagement.

    Pros

(Information Technology) Flexible work environment, strong company backed by HCA with strong growth potential for the future. Attracts good talent but does not retain it over the long haul because smart employees are left to devise their own path and eventually find something better at HCA or elsewhere.

    Cons

Leadership is young and does not develop up and coming talent to grow resulting in attrition. A lot of trial and error without proper direction. The value proposition of work is rarely measured resulting in impacts on moral when it results in wasted effort. Individuals are not used for their strengths, rather where ever there is a need within the organization. Ample room to increase productivity by identifying and leveraging employee strengths.

    Advice to Management

Career path and development along with rising opportunities to support growth is vital to keeping good up and coming talent, focus on this rather than hiring externally. Talent is right in front of your eyes, develop it and use it to help the organization grow. Create opportunities to recognize and reward employee strengths, enable smart and creative individuals by working with them to find opportunities to utilize their abilities in proper capacities rather than ignoring the issue and hiring replacements for turnover.

    Pros

Nothing, at least your check did not bounce. The Director's for the most part are great, but they "walk on egg shells every day" afraid of the next Chess move Admin will make

    Cons

New Admin Leaders are named Larry, Moe, and Curley if that gives you any indication of Leadership, welcome to Stoog land. Admin. is so unorganized, I think a group of apes from Hoogle Zoo could do a better job of managing the place. I am not kidding, they promoted a CFO to the new COO, and he knows NOTHING about being a COO.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the CEO and work your way down.
