I have been working at Healthland full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Collaborative teams and a very positive work environment. Good communications between departments.

    Cons

Multiple sites but heavy use of Web-ex makes inter-communications very doable.

    Pros

Clinical staff is readily available for SME assistance

    Cons

The Long Term Care side of the company, formerly American HealthTech is stuck in the 80's. The mentality of "this is how we've always done it" is strong! There is a a desire to move towards Agile, but there is no process team and the process decisions are made at an executive level without Agile training and without input from newer employees who have the in-depth experience in Agile shops. Work-Life balance is non-existent. Former nurses run this company like a time-clock environment. There is no flexibility, hours are scheduled and OT without comp time is constant

    Pros

Excellent work-life balance, great organization culture & values,Staff who are serious about the industry they serve and the opportunity to learn from well experienced team members around you.

    Cons

slow career growth. If you are in IT, you might see that your IT skills are slowly becoming outdated and no longer competitive enough for the rest of the IT industry

    Advice to Management

The management team has done a great job of leading the workforce and the customers when the industry was going through a lot of transformation. There might be some scope for improvement in execution by being more agile.

I worked at Healthland full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Generally had a good team to work with and never felt micro-managed. Benefits are average, pay for my job duties was subpar, but was able to make a lot of overtime. Spent 6 1/2 years here, first 4 were pretty good, then things went downhill, until I ended up resigning.

    Cons

When I still worked there(2012), no one knew what was going on with with management. They would hire great talent and then they would get fired for making waves, I can only assume. The product(Centriq) itself was hard to install and implement. There are still multiple lawsuits from their customers and former customers.

    Advice to Management

Maybe you've got it together now, but my last couple years were quite unpleasant. Stop firing your good talent and start listening to them!!

    Pros

What they do for their target client is admirable.

    Cons

They have no idea what they are doing in the short term, or how to survive and thrive in the long term.

    Advice to Management

Try valuing your people--you know, the ones that do all the work and put up with your shenanigans? Loyalty goes both ways.

  10. Helpful (1)

Grew technically speaking by leaps and bounds but at a cost. Over time to many hats to wear and to many hours at work.

    I worked at Healthland full-time

    Pros

Great co-workers along with a great diversity of work to do. Very challenging and if you put the effort in, there is a lot you will learn which will help you grow in your career.

    Cons

To many hours for many. For too long many decisions were made with insufficient or bad data.

    Advice to Management

Listen to those who have been there for a long time as they have valuable input.

I have been working at Healthland full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work/Life balance is good, compensation is competitive, benefits are nice, individual contributors are talented and easy to work with.

    Cons

Immature organization, lack of accountability, constant firefighting. Far too many initiatives are a result of poor design, poor planning, and poor implementation.

    Advice to Management

Take a breath, set some achievable goals, communicate them with the organization, and let the team do the work. Don't let the first 'urgent' issue derail these initiatives.
