I worked at Heartland Financial USA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

7 branches in East Valley, Phoenix and Scottsdale. If you work hard, it is recognized with title, promotion and pay. Bonus potential for all levels of employment. Competitive benefits including 401k match!

    Cons

Being a smaller employer, room for advancement is dependent on others retiring or leaving employment and turnover for those roles is low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase reward for employees who refer business to sales departments.

I worked at Heartland Financial USA full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Heartland was a great place to work. They cared about all of their employees at all of their banks, and it showed. I felt appreciated during my time with the company.

    Cons

The pay was not as great as at other banks. However, there were sometimes bonuses at the end of the year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay employees a little better at the lower levels, and better use the staff you have so there is not so much turnover.

Unorganized, inconsistant company. They don't truly care about employees

I worked at Heartland Financial USA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Co-workers, health benefits, branch get-togethers

    Cons

The company doesn't care about employees. They try to make it seem like they do, but it is a complete lie. They have no problem laying off people that have worked really hard for years. They have no problem demoting employees who are very valuable. Upper management in the mortgage department changes every year it seems like and each person has a different vision of how to run it. You have to work 2 years before receiving the company match for retirement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Care about your employees more.

    Pros

They treat their employee's well, and they strive to hire from within. I enjoy working for them, and management cares about their employee's moral.

There are some departments that have stressful workloads, but management is working to correct these issues. Moral in the Roshek Building.
