I have been working at Heartland Hospice full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers. Couldn't ask for a better group to work with. Supervisors are supportive. Oncall is a part of the position so you just have to have the mind set we're there for a reason to help people. If you have the heart for working with people and their family's going through death this is a great place to work.

    Cons

Raises are minimal and hours oncall can be long.

  6. May not be a fit for my skills

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Large hospital w multiple options for nursing

    Cons

Not familiar w your program for hospice my initial training was rural eastern Kentucky I don't think any of your positions that I reveiwed would fit the independence and health care planning for hospice pts and end of life care would be a good fit

I have been working at Heartland Hospice full-time

    Pros

None, it has been a nightmare

    Cons

Corporate needs to restructure and start treating their employees with respect and dignity. They need to stop micromanaging. The turn over is constant and that should be enough to make you decide not to work for HCR Manorcare or Heartland Hospice

    Advice to Management

Wake UP and start listening to those employees willing to step up and expose the truth. When hiring admins. Make sure they have a strong background in marketing in order to support the marketing team. Stop the micromanaging!

I worked at Heartland Hospice full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay was OK. Nurses were excellent and what keeps the office open

    Cons

Management only thinks of themselves and has a save them self first attitude. Sales Managers are really micro-managers with no clue as to building relationships. Business model is clueless as they don't listen to staff and corporate driven. High turnover and difficult to be held responsible for numbers when there is no staff

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people. They have a lot of good ideas and you wouldn't have such high turnover

I worked at Heartland Hospice part-time

    Pros

The leadership was excellent, proactive, and took time out of their day to think us for the work we did. It is a cohesive group of people, all of which are pleasant to work with.

    Cons

Pay was a little low, but getting paid for mileage helped bring up the paycheck.

    Advice to Management

Keep involved with the staff. It means a lot. Look into increasing salary a little bit.
