    I worked at Heartland Payment Systems

    Pros

    You control your time and managers are not on your back.They have a very good piece of software called the knowledge network which will answer almost any questions you have.They have a great reputation for dealing very fairly with their customers.Their products work and work well,technical help is very good.Residual income is a real plus.

    Cons

    You may starve trying to get your business going.In this current environment businesses are reluctant to make changes even ones to benefit them,so sales can be slow.Because of the turnover in sales talent your direct manager may be someone with very little time with the company and you may suffer as a result. Health insurance is not available until you make certain sales goals which are sometimes harder to achieve than you may think. They had a major computer breach which compeitors continue to try and use against them.When reps leave early they give up their residuals which the company gets to keep.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Dont allow people to turn over so easily.The sink or swim attitude doesn't serve you well,even though it may help profits.Have a plan in place to support each new sales rep and get them to some sort of financial security BEFORE they "vest " which can take a while and most families can't wait that long.
