    I worked at Hebrew SeniorLife

    Pros

It's a truly a wonderful place to work. The culture is collaborative and forward thinking. All of the staff members are positive contributors, making it an ideal work environment.

    Cons

As with most medical settings, it's long hours that are always busy, very little down time, which to some is actually a ppositive aspect

I worked at Hebrew SeniorLife full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked in smaller group off the main corporate campus. Co-workers were amazing with a true Team mentality and fun atmosphere. Challenging work but very rewarding.

    Cons

New management made life very difficult, The non-profit became very corporate and concentrated on the bottom line and not the mission.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of the mission and the employees and the bottom line would take care of itself.

I worked at Hebrew SeniorLife full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

90 percent of the staff is friendly and helpful. Public transportation is very close by. In some positions, it's possible to have a flexible schedule. Employees can learn a lot, depending upon location and division.

    Cons

Often hiring paperwork the agency provides new employees with is not accurate. This leads to confusion for the employee during the annual appraisal process. Appraisal questions do not accurately relate to an employee's position in some departments. A lot of outdated software and equipment is in use is various departments. Too many people don't know whom to contact in other departments/divisions for information/assistance/certain tasks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should be more transparent with staff concerning whether a position is supported by grant funding, agency-earned dollars or other means. Create a cross-training module for all employees so that there is a better chance for an employee to have another viable position within the company. No one should be anxious about whether or not he/she will have a job when funding dries up.

    Pros

Beautiful campus in dedham. it was only built a few years ago. Everyone I encountered there was pleasant and very friendly. There is a variety of residents there, so whether you want to work with higher functioning or lower functioning elders, there are opportunities.

    Cons

The hiring process takes a long time, but HR is very helpful. Parking can be tricky in certain areas of the campus.

I worked at Hebrew SeniorLife full-time

    Pros

Less frequent layoffs than other industries. However, there have been more frequent layoffs each year for the last 3 years. Parking.

    Cons

Turnover in upper management high over the last 3 years. Benefits getting worse each year. Salaries are overall on the low end of market value. WorkLife Balance is non-existent. No opportunities for promotion.
Managment seems to have trouble maintaining a consistent corporate culture across other locations.
Bathrooms at corporate campus is horrendous.
Cafeteria is Kosher and the food produced is average at best. Eating in the cafeteria is awful due the dark lighting and 20 year old stained carpets.
