I worked at Heidelberg Distributing
Pros – Good schedule. Ok pay. Some free alcohol
Cons – No chance for a raise or promotion. The family makes big bucks and drive fancy cars while you struggle. Horrible organizational skills.. no one can remember anything unless it benefits them.
Advice to Senior Management – Maybe seek people for leadership who don't share your last name or Dna... there are good people out there not related to you.
Good luck when the kids grow up and are your boss right out of school...

Pros – Brands sold are top in market. Company is well respected with customers, industry leader. Pay is 100% commission, so you are rewarded financially for sales achievement. Periodic incentives beyond paycheck are nice-- I've won golf clubs, trips, etc. Coworkers are excellent. Company matches 1/2% up to 6% on 401k, which is excellent.
Cons – Family owned but not necessarily family oriented. Very few holidays off. Can be an all-encompassing, 24/7 commitment. Training could be improved; very little direction for new hires. Cost of business is somewhat high-- company does not cover the expenses of cell phone, gas, or wear and tear on vehical.
Advice to Senior Management – Improve training program.

I have been working at Heidelberg Distributing
Pros – great brands
fun events (sometimes)
you meet lots of people
Cons – there is NO money in this business - at least for 90% of the reps. if you're cool with working non-stop mornings, nights, weekends, holidays for less than $25k a year...then have at it.
The amount of stress I feel on a daily basis is ridiculous. You can NEVER get away from work. You're life IS this job. I've missed out on so much (birthdays, vacations- not even sure what those are, dinners, weddings, etc). If you hate your life, friends, family, and hobbies, then this is the job for you. Also, be prepared to get fat from drinking and eating in your accounts (expected of you, with no reimbursement).
Advice to Senior Management – take responsibility, not everything is the fault of your reps (who are ridiculously underpaid and over worked). Have more respect for our outside lives.

I worked at Heidelberg Distributing
Pros – The Pay is okay, great if you can become a union worker. $9 an hour with 45 hour weeks in the summer so there's a chance for overtime. Four 10's are kind of nice too, three day weekends were needed after the work week.
Cons – Warehouse work is a revolving door. You'll be worked up until the 90 day union date then canned. Be prepared to walk 5 - 10 miles picking orders over the course of each night. Beer section can be brutal
Advice to Senior Management – Get rid of the Union, $16 an hour to drive a beer truck is robbery.
