I have been working at Hein & Associates full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Team environment, great leadership, open door policy, everyone is approachable from staff to partners, great learning environment with hands on experience, the partners are truly invested in you as a person
Cons – Having to get your CPA license (in general). Other than that, I really don't have any cons about working at Hein. I really enjoy my job and the people that I get the opportunity to work with to be honest.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to invest in your employees, fostering growth, and team work
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Hein & Associates full-time for more than a year
Pros – The atmosphere is super positive, the people who work here are great, the pay is good, the benefits are strong, and the culture is awesome. I love it here.
Cons – Tax season is... Well, tax season. It's very busy, but the company works hard to take care of people during that time.
Advice to Senior Management – You're doing a great job.

I have been working at Hein & Associates full-time for more than a year
Pros – Great hiring promises. Everything looks good coming in the door. Unfortunately, the follow-through isn't there. Everything is rosy on day one, but before too long, it's clear that there are a different set of priorities at work.
Cons – The cool-kids high school clique is something I thought I'd left behind long ago, but at Hein, that describes the partner group. The firm is among the most profitable in the industry, but there's only one metric: individual utilization. Keep billing at all costs and know that your personal life means nothing.
Advice to Senior Management – Grow up. Stand behind your people and your commitments to them. Lack of trust was cited as a prevalent issue in firm surveys, but the leaders couldn't figure out why that was an issue.

I worked at Hein & Associates full-time for more than a year
Pros – Incredibly talented, accessible partners
Great learning opportunities
Interesting client base
Excellent benefits and "perks" (free food, massages, etc)
Cons – At times. it's like being back in high school rather than in a professional work environment.
Advice to Senior Management – It isn't wise to put all of your eggs in one basket - managers may feel that they are indispensible and thus free to treat both superiors and direct reports with less respect than they deserve.

I worked at Hein & Associates full-time for less than a year
Pros – Overall Hien is a good firm and a good place to work. The accountants work hard but there are perks. The IT department is ran well overall.
-Great compensation
-Training opportunities
-Nice offices in down town
Cons – IT is part of an overall operations unit and it somewhat hard to navigate how this works with the accounting staff.
-The politics are a mess
- Too many cooks in the kitchen to effectively do some projects
-More like 50 hours than 40 hours
Advice to Senior Management – Make employees more aware of the political process so that they can work with it not against it.

I have been working at Hein & Associates
Pros – Atmosphere is pleasant - some, but not a lot of politics; enjoyable group of people to work with overall, exposure to all aspects of financial audit vs one section as you may find at big 4
Cons – Varying management styles and expectations are sometimes difficult to understand and predict until you worked with a person a couple of times, applies to public accounting in general but very little control over your own schedule until you reach manager or above
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to keep all levels of employees involved in decisions that are made, this is done adequately, could be better but could also definitely be a lot worse
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
