    Mostly a good experience

Worked In NY Branch (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsSuperb benefits, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K with match, Merit based bonuses, Xmas bonus
    Mostly nice people
    Challenging and interesting work

ConsGerman head office rules - even if it is stupid, the rule is the rule
    Minimal professional development
Some desk warmers who spend more time on social/shopping activities than work
    Small environment, minimal advancement opportunities

Advice to Senior ManagementGerman head office management should understand and respect the cultural and work environment differences
Management needs to lose the desk warmers even if they have connections to senior management

    No place for innovation

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Prosgood work-life balance / flexible working hours / high security of employment

Conslow prospects for personal growth / unfavourable meeting culture / low individual responsibility, high collective responsibility

    Good place for cozy career

    Portfolio Manager (Current Employee)

ProsHelaba's compensation packages are above average in the industry. The bank's presence in NYC is still small - but growing, especially in Project Finance (Real Estate and Infrastructure) and Corp. Finance. Working hours are from 8:30AM to 6PM. The office is completely empty after 6PM. Management likes to throw a summer and a winter party for all employees. Employees are overly social.

ConsThe bank's group heads are mostly German. There is, like in other banks, conflict between the manamgent. The bank teams very small. Room for advancement is limited.

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior Management is disassociated w/ employees needs at times.

Fair in the main, but dont expect to make a breakthrough in your career

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Frankfurt am Main (Germany)

ProsFair culture and open ears for employees. Good non-monetary package. You feel that they want to bind you.

ConsSometimes a bit boring and old fashioned. Culture is not very encouraging as it might be usual for public companies. Needs a long time to get promotions.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou could make use of carrot and stick in order to encourage employees. Get a bit life into the company.
