I worked at Hella North America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

At first, it seems like a good place to work. After the initial adjustment, reality kicks in.

    Cons

Management is wrapped up in themselves, and favoritism runs rampant. Monetary bonuses, reimbursements, and awards are discretionary; when a manager likes someone - guess who gets the reward? Human resources is a useless department, and the director doesn't stand up to her peers when Hella employees need her to. Confidentiality throughout the building is LOW, and everyone knows everyone else's business. The workload is either too much or way too little, and management has a hard time delegating tasks. Overall, a low morale workplace. Everyone is a gossip on top of the general place being a bad place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Restaff the upper level management and get rid of favoritism by discipline.

I have been working at Hella North America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The company has great program management, a strong brand and well-engineered product

    Cons

The home country views its American subsidiary as a cash cow. Many of internal software systems are beyond comprehension and are often redundant. These internal systems produce a small value-add for all the time and effort which must be expended on them (taking away from your customer obligations).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect American employees as equal to those at home, in Europe.

Great people and lots of room to be involved in many areas of the company.

    Cons

Not much room for climbing up the ladder. Hired as an intern and there was no help in the next step for my career.
