Wonderful company to get a start.

Receptionist S&H (Former Employee)
Irvine, CA

I worked at Henkel - Germany full-time for more than 3 years

ProsLoved working there. I was given a chance as a receptionist and had no prior experience as a receptionist. I enjoyed my 4 years with S&H. The skills I have learned have prepared me for other jobs. I am really sorry that I was unable to relocate with the company when they relocated from Irvine to Culver City. They provided training and experience.

ConsI can't think of anything.

Great brands, horrible company, no leadership.

Sales Manager (Current Employee)
Little Rock, AR

I have been working at Henkel - Germany full-time for less than a year

ProsI can't think of any besides free laundry detergent and a convenient office location.

ConsZero leadership, long hours, crappy benefits, tons of politics, no customer focus, only worried about making a number.

Advice to Senior ManagementBring in new leadership to AR office. Your largest account demands the best. Focus on your customer.

Great Brands in North America but very difficult culture.

Vice President Supply Chain (Former Employee)

ProsGreat products and brands. Employees in North America have great experience and knowledge.

ConsBeing micro managed from Germany is not optimal for success in North America

Terrible

Analyst (Former Employee)
Rogers, AR

I worked at Henkel - Germany full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGreat Benefits but that's about it.

ConsNo concern given what so ever if you aren't a kiss ass, no advancement, no raises, no acknowledgement at all. They give people bad reviews or put them on a performance plan when they want to get rid of you for no apparent reason. Very unprofessional people in the Field Sales office in Rogers Arkansas for the most part. The only good employees they've had are gone, either by their own choice or because they were terminated in a very deceiving way. Managers are the worst I've ever dealt with and HR?, they don't even know what HR means. It doesn't mean to back the bad guy, it means do your job and get those nasty people out the door. HR is what is ruining Henkel because they aren't taking out the real trash.

Advice to Senior ManagementOverhaul Management in Rogers, You will see better results and happier employees.

A unique and enjoyable company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Henkel - Germany

ProsI love working with my padre at henkel. Every day is a sharp and intriguing experience.

ConsNo knives allowed at work. How can they do that? The company makes the finest knives around next to some Japanese brands. And maybe Wusthof.

Advice to Senior ManagementOverall, keep it up. Challenge workers daily.

Big company offering a stable job. A place mostly for followers.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Henkel - Germany full-time

ProsGood benefits and pay is very reasonable, is multinational and offers international opportunities, co-workers are good people.

ConsToo political, too fragmented, not cohesive among functions and divisions. Fixation on management circle and associated benefits can be unhealthy.

Advice to Senior ManagementEven though a lot of talk on innovation, but management culture stifles alternatives and innovation. Try to change the very top-down management style from Germany, especially in Personal Care and Home Care.
