I worked at Henkel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great health insurance, the employees are helpful, they promote from within, pay rate is livable, and they promote 'safety first'.

    Cons

Instead of giving someone who works hard a well deserve promoting; they go by the buddy system first.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work hard to put the right people in a position to elevate the company profits and always focus on "Safety first".

I have been working at Henkel full-time

    Pros

The company is international one with a lot of diversity, There are many area you could explore to do the job you want to if you have network and chance. The traffic is easy to get through freeway.

    Cons

The company culture is not easy to step in and very sales focused. The process, discussion to Headquarter also make you crazy sometimes. The promotion chance is not that much.

    Advice to Management

Do not make any more process in the organization but rather think to consolidate many to one.

    Pros

Relatively good benefits. Co-workers are really good people, in general. Nice setting in Rocky Hill. Some departments allow telecommuting once a week as a way to help employees manage high workloads.

    Cons

Extremely short term strategies to please the analysts to the clear detriment of long term strategies. Mothership is in Duesseldorf, Germany, meaning top down management, huge bureaucracy. Extremely political at upper management levels. Quality managers don't succeed at upper levels, aggressive individuals and bullies do.

    Advice to Management

Where do I begin? Stop rewarding bullies? Consider, accept and embrace the fact that, in today's uber fast paced environment, a company must incentivize communication, collaboration and inclusion rather than hierarchically cascaded communication, silos and exclusion?

    Pros

There are plenty of opportunities for personal and professional development supported by Henkel, employees are pretty loyal to the company.

    Cons

It is a pretty lean organization, so the expectations are high for employees. Some employees occupy 2 or more positions. Culture is a bit sexist.

I have been working at Henkel full-time

    Pros

Great people to work with. They are so talented and experienced, good for fresh out of college student to gain experience. Managers are generally helpful to solve problems.

    Cons

Head of the company makes unrealistic target. too many saving strategies to shrink the cost.

    Advice to Management

give employee some space to breath

    Pros

Great people to work with. Loyal dedicated employees. Excellent benefits. Reasonable workload.

    Cons

Management plays favorites. Schedules workloads as if its a Union Shop.... Repairs are done with duct tape. Low pay for responsibilities required to do job

    Advice to Management

WAKE UP ! Maint. Dept thinks tape fixes anything. Why do you allow certain favorite employees to "steal" time by doing unnessecery work for overtime pay? Do you even know how to figure labor costs?

I worked at Henkel full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice coworkers if you can find the right ones and avoid the troopers. Pay is good for the area. Good 401k match compared to a lot of places. Interesting work.

    Cons

Rewards are rarely based on performance. Those who aid and abet the German troops will be rewarded. Those who perform well--but resist the propaganda machine and transatlantic power grab, or aid, abet, and give refuge to the idea that Americans can get things done as well as their tight-panted, floppy-haired, colored-glasses-framed counterparts--will be put on trains to other camps of employment. Management will reward the troopers, no matter how incompetent, by randomly creating new VP and Director ranks for them, which results in a very top-heavy organization with about 20% Directors and VPs. Obviously it is so much better to keep paying them their bonuses and six figures while controlling costs through layoffs of the lower ranks, cheapening of products, and cuts in training and essential travel.

    Advice to Management

It's useless to give, because you all don't seem to think that you're the problem.

I have been working at Henkel (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunities to travel when budgets allow, plenty of business units / regions to choose from for next challenge

    Cons

Review system for current employee performance is a bit outdated and not motivational (doesn't result in promotions when it's promised to, etc.), "hitting the numbers" results in travel and training bans too often, more presentations and discussion on strategy than execution (common in large companies) resulting in very slow moving progress, work/life balance is not a high priority in most regions

    Advice to Management

Work harder on top-down communication, put work/life balance higher on the priority list

    Pros

Strong and profitable company with no end in sight!!

    Cons

Treat their employee's like dirt and only have one goal and that's to make all the profit they can.

    Advice to Management

You promote and hire bad people and treat your current employee's like they don't matter to the company even after 10 years of service!!!

    Pros

Phenomenal product technology. Strong market position in many markets. Diversified products and customers.

    Cons

Job rotation at senior levels leads to people with no domain knowledge of their area trying to manage it. Too much focus on sales to the exclusion of all else. Silo thinking between departments and business groups.

    Advice to Management

    Focus more on cross-department collaboration.
