I worked at Henniges Automotive full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company has a very low bar as far as performance goes.

    Cons

Hard work and innovation are not rewarded. Everyone in salary positions gets the exact same raise regardless of performance. Most of the people have worked there a very long time and are close to retirement. They are very unwilling to innovate or change in even the smallest way to improve manufacturing processes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit and let someone else do your job, you are certainly no good at it.

I worked at Henniges Automotive full-time

    Pros

It's steady work and that's about it. If all you want is a job, then this place is OK.

    Cons

Division management is inept at best. There is absolutely no leadership and managers spend most of their time reacting to problems instead of planning improvements. There are few if any people here, managers or technical staff, that understand the way modern manufacturing facilites operate. Many of their procedures harken back to the 1960's.

Few if any people working here appear to want to even come to work. Many seem to be waiting for retirement. This is one of the most dismal places I've ever worked at.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Division management needs shaking up. People from outside the company and possible even the industry should be brought in who understand modern management and manufacturing. Also, an effort should be made to attract and keep talented technical staff.

I have been working at Henniges Automotive

    Pros

As a technical professional, lots of opportunity to learn and apply new technology.

    Cons

Division management is very cheap, very short sighted and not very creative. Very little emphisis on personal responsibility, especially where the labor union is concerned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With an older workforce, some focus should be given on recruiting new, quality workers. Also, as the current union labor force makes less than at other non-union employers in the area, some creative management solutions are in order. Sadly, I don't think this is something the current division management team is capable of.

I have been working at Henniges Automotive

    Pros

There isn't really a good reason to work at Henniges Automotive other than it's a job and a paycheck.

    Cons

Favoritism, favoritism, favoritism. Too much work for too few people. Unless one brown noses, no chance of getting ahead. Too many inept people in plant management and supervisor roles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Henniges Automotive senior management needs to take a much closer look at certain plants and their management. Get rid of those managers-be it plant manager, HR manager, etc-who keeps and or promotes people who has several complaints of sexual harassment filed against them, keeps the convicted felons employed there, keeps the people who who are alcoholics employed there. Senior management need to take a look at supervisors and other support people at the plant level and determine if they really are qualified to have those jobs in the first place and if not, find out why they were put in those positions in the first place. Senior management needs to do a little micromanaging.

A typical Detroit auto component supplier

    I worked at Henniges Automotive

    Pros

Keep up with the new computing technology investment. A new office building. Flexible working hours.
A good salary level. A while back, you could get a very good benefit package if you are a product manager, even a company car.

    Cons

Management shuffling too often. Almost once every year. This might be tied to the fact that the company was on market for sell for a long time by the parent company Gencorp. The direction of the company is never for the long term development. Another fact is the price pressure from automotive OEM has put the auto component suppliers on financial difficulty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Seek a long term goal for the company.

I have been working at Henniges Automotive

    Pros

Some management is supportive. Morale used to be a good incentive to come to work.

    Cons

Overall direction confusing and communication is aweful. Even if you ask a direct question, most generally you do not receive a direct answer.
