    FSC at Henry Schein

Dental Field Sales Consultant (Current Employee)

ProsSome autonomy, able to work in the field or from home. Potential for being a lucrative career, in time... Possibly a very long time.

ConsEarly on accounts can be taken away without notice, or stolen by veteran reps that have the office write letters to management asking for a change in representation - which management never questions. The training is extremely long and utterly useless, the information covered is random and vague and not indicative of the actual job. Oh, and it's a straight commission role, you aren't compensated for anything at all. It's not really a sales role, it's a relationship/account management role. But no matter what happens, or who sells something in a respective territory the FSC is responsible.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe DPAT isn't that great - raise your fees by a dollar, or buy some technology and hope it creates new business is what it should be called.

Shallow pockets with a lot of expectations

    Field Sales Consultant (Current Employee)

ProsFlexible schedule, proactive training, some exclusive relationships with suprior products

ConsPoor compensation and expense reimbursement, conflicting management values, impossible to make make money with diminishing margins, saturating territories with reps which make it difficult to grow your own territory, offer unfilled promises of a lucrative career, encourage competition among the team which creates resentment and unethical behaviors

Advice to Senior ManagementStart offering some compensation for expenses related to this position. Times have changed- have successful reps that are currently in the field lead training initiatives. Start hiring experienced and professional reps instead of new grads that work cheap- your reputation is quickly tarnishing.

Looking to Leave for Better Opportunity

    Assistant (Current Employee)
    Melville, NY

ProsCompany with a good reputation, profitable

ConsDoes not take care of their employees
    Very few perks
    Very political
Even if you prove yourself you will wait years for a promotion. If someone in management dislikes you they can sway a decision to get you promoted very easily.
Do not take care of their employees, would rather have a better stock in the market.

Advice to Senior ManagementShow more appreciation to your employees!!!!

A really great job with no prior experience

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Jacksonville, FL

ProsThe benefits alone are amazing! Its affordable, and you get it after 90 days. Hours are really good too, even though they are pretty set they are reasonable. Plus NO WEEKENDS!! The management team is really nice too. They are very friendly, easy to talk to, and they really show that they appreciate their employees.

ConsAround holidays, and later ends of the month work gets slow and some people are sent home because there is no work.

Advice to Senior ManagementNone. They do an excellent job. If I didn't move out of state, I'd still be there.

ProsIts a nice place to work and the people are pleasant. The benefits are pretty decent although like most places, you pay more and more for health coverage, and less and less is covered.

ConsThe starting salaries aren't very high, and you will have a hard time getting an increase.
