I have been working at Herb Chambers full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great room for advancement within the company. Always hiring from within. Good benefits too.

    Cons

Internal Mngment could acknowledge more hard work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The BDC is grossly underpaid (yes, even the good ones). You need more contests, too. Sales consultants get everything...what about 'the little guys', like a few years back?

I have been working at Herb Chambers

    Pros

There is always promotions and room to grow within the company (as stated in the title). Herb is a great guy, as is the management. We're all a supportive team/family throughout the dealerships. Definitely a plan to learn the auto business and get recognized for the work you do, if you do it well!

    Cons

It's the car business...the hours are long, and we work holidays.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe a few more contests/bonus opportunities for people other than F&I managers and sales reps...other than that, keep up the good work!

I have been working at Herb Chambers full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you're a hard worker you will be rewarded. The company is always looking to promote from within for all positions. There are several people that I have met who have started off washing cars in the recon center that are successful in sales and management.

The benefits include; Health, dental, optional vision insurance, as well as paid vacations.

Training! We get the best training in the business and are always looking to help improve personal performance.

Great opportunities are available for those who want to work for it.

    Cons

Schedule. This is a retail business, weekends are the busiest days of the week, be prepared to work them. We tend to work 5-6 days a week with an average of 46 hours per week.

Be prepared to work hard. This is a performance based business, and if you work hard you will be rewarded. If you find it difficult to motivate yourself you will not be happy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay engaged with employees, and be proactive. Complacency is the enemy.

I worked at Herb Chambers full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Nothing. All promises but never delivered. Very disorganized. It might be "Best Palces to work" but I don't see that at all.

    Cons

LONG Hours. Very little time-off. Easily 65 hrs week. Constantly short-changed on pay/commission. Have to FIGHT with manager and office to get paid. Shallow, un-educated slimeballs. Two-faced and cheesy employees throughout the dealership (Millbury, MA)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Close your shop. You guys are so corrupt.

    Pros

Opportunity to get a decent discount on a nice car...
Bonuses are decent, if you work hard enough
    Friendly coworkers

    Cons

Service Advisors blame BDC for their mistakes, customers do too because you're the first person they talk to. GM is a micromanager who really has no idea what her employees' job really is, and only cares about the clients with a lot of money or a fancy title. Always worried about losing your job. One day you're told you're doing a great job, next day you don't work there. Degrading environment. Horrible management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take a management class...

    Pros

    clean environment

    Cons

management is awful. rude and very easy to let you go. they should take their time to understand and make their employees satisfied instead for happy employees thrive more for the company. but instead they make you feel replaceable at any moment.

I worked at Herb Chambers full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

you can make a decent amount of money if you are willing to be a jerk to everyone around you. Herb seems like a great guy and has an inspiring story but I seriously doubt his integrity based on the individuals he hires. no other pros.

    Cons

no life and managers are jerks. You have to work 60-70 hours a week for a small salary and you feel like you are going to get fired every day. Poor company culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    stop being jerks
