Getting better every day to inspire others towards their dreams while also moving towards mine

Independent Distributor (Current Employee) West Bend, WI

ProsNumber one nutrition company in the world; positive organizational culture of sharing success and being healthy; independence; opportunity for people at all levels: very part-time, part-time, and full-time; ability to be in business for yourself but not by yourself; nutrition, science, and business training all the time; this is the only company that has ever told me "I can" with the support to get there. Low start-up costs; consumable goods; business that can be passed down as inheritance to family.

ConsNo guarantee of income, which depends on variables: personality, network of connections, communication skills, and time put into the marketing methods. That is why most people start part-time while working at their full-time (or other) job(s). Non-traditional approach to marketing can make sale difficult as people may be skeptical because of opinions. Entrepreneurial activity: no healthcare.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep going with sponsorships and all positive visibility of the brand! More product trainings on science behind the products.

    No concern for employees

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Torrance, CA

ProsCasual atmosphere, free product, free parking, telecommute availability (this can also be a "Con")

ConsRidiculous workload, you are expected to be available 24/7 without expectation of compensation (OT for contractors only and no compensation time), meetings for everything, old equipment and software, management/structural changes are too often to keep track of, not much of a break room (HP2), working environment can get loud at times, payroll is a NiGHTMARE, as filling out a tume sheet is and acountant's wet dream...need I go on?

Advice to Senior ManagementCut the bureacracy. Let people do actual work instead of meeting after meeting, consider your employees have families and cut back on their workload.

Making money WHILE changing my own life as well as others? Who wouldn't love it?!

Senior Consultant (Current Employee) Edmond, OK

ProsGood money, few hours, easy to do, easy to use

ConsGetting started is super confusing, but once you get the hang of it, your only problem is trying to find clientele. Once you've established some clients, it's super easy.

    Former Creative Services Employee

Marketing Manager (Former Employee) Torrance, CA

Prosfree Herbalife product, nice office space, free parking

ConsToo much politics and power hungry people, no direction, no introduction to other peers (be prepared to guess who you are supposed to work with) little or no training for new employees, unbalanced environment stuck in old ways of doing business. Middle management always in meetings never available.

Advice to Senior ManagementSome people when they work together for many years sometimes they bond in a way that work becomes secondary that creates an unproductive environment that becomes a social club. "Comadres"

    Lead QA Engineer

QA Engineer (Former Employee) Torrance, CA

ProsGood Office space, some really nice people, good benefits

ConsVery political environment, Technically the Company is not very fast paces, still stays at older or not very useful technologies.
Performance Reviews not transparent. Management relies on politics rather than individual's briliance

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on individuals in your team and not on politics.

Very poor management. Politics reign over competence.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Torrance, CA

ProsFriendly staff - and Herbalife does participate in some interesting stuff around LA.

ConsThe management of the content department is embarrassingly bad - the marketing department seems to be run by someone with no experience in marketing - and the politics among mid-management seem to prevail over the actual abilities of the people who do the work. Sometimes it seems like the products are part of a very elaborate pyramid scheme.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop being afraid of competent people - good managers don't see the kind of expensive turnaround your poor management skills foster.

    Disillusioning

    Manager (Former Employee) Torrance, CA

    Pros- Casual atmosphere
    - Free gym onsite
    - Free products
    - Attitude towards wellness
    - Organic cafe
    - A lot of autonomy
    - Company is strong and growing

Cons- HR is too political and powerful
    - Tone from the top is that the distributors are important, the employees are not
    - Very political
    - Promotions & Raises are sub-par - get your money when you get in the door as that's your only opportunity to do so
    - Benefits are not competitive
    - Very segmented organization, everyone works in silos.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop being afraid of HR, make your own decisions. If you involved your staff in decisions that affect them they'll be more invested in the organization.
