I worked at Herbergers full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – The CO-Workers the people you work with are like your second family and long time friends for life thats the best part of the job to work with friends and family
Cons – The Management doesn't appreciate you or your hard work and dedication your just a number once your salary is capped your time is slowly up its just a matter of time till they can find someone to take your place and that's the sad part of all retail stores unfortunately
Advice to Senior Management – Learn to appreciate your long term dedicated employees more not just with a pat on the back but show them in the year end review and you just might see more people stay
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Herbergers part-time for less than a year
Pros – 20% discount for first year applies to everything and can be combined with most coupons
Cons – Unreliable coworkers, low pay for amount of work, judged on sales but not paid commission, constantly hounded about getting credits and customer compliments, pay raise is based on combination of sales and credits you receive, coupon policy must be repeatedly explained to customers because of all the exceptions.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop taking returns without receipts or tags--returning nasty old shoes, handbags, and skirts is gross and makes the store look like a rental place. Pay employees to give the service you want them to provide. A little praise would go a long way. Strike up a deal with Goodwill to do that sale year round. Customers were so much happier when they could use the coupons to buy things they wanted.

I have been working at Herbergers part-time for less than a year
Pros – the discount, Calvin Klein, and Clinique
Cons – Underpayed for the labor you do, they don't even keep you in the department that you applied for. I applied for fragrances and was in it for about a month and then they switched me to clothing. Got paid the same for clothing that i did for fragrances and it sucked because i got commission in fragrances but not in clothing, plus everyoone in clothing got paid more than me. and it was so hard to get a day off. They would make you feel bad for wanting to go to a wedding, or anything else you had to do. it was also very hard to quit, the woman that i went to made me feel like the worst person in the world, she almost cried. so glad i am done there!
Advice to Senior Management – pay better, nicer to employees, dont make them feel horrible for quitting or taking some time off. let them work where they want to work.

I have been working at Herbergers
Pros – I love the people i work with. Most of the managers constantly encourage and give praise for a job well done. The store itself has a comfortable. There is incentive to open credit cards and get customer reviews. Hours are so flexible! You can easily gain or cut back on hours whenever necessary
Cons – Some days can be slow and customers can be rude but its retail so thats normal for any clothing store job. Be prepared for customers to get upset that the edina store doesnt have many of the same brands as the other bonton stores; also there is no home goods department
Advice to Senior Management – Some people get away with doing absolutely nothing helpful all day so if management could watch who isnt doing their job itd be helpful

I worked at Herbergers
Pros – Job security, easy to get the hang of the job duties
Cons – nothing new is ever presented so there were never any challanges for me which made for a very boring job. Folding clothes and cleaning out fitting rooms for 8 hours 5 days a week can be tough on your mental stability

I have been working at Herbergers
Pros – The management at this store is friendly, organized, and extremely professional. You will be treated like family no matter what position you occupy. You will be given preference for any internal positions that arise and most likely be chosen over external employees.
Cons – The pay is minimum wage for almost every new sales associate (even those with years of experience). Most sales associates are hired on a short hour (0-20 hrs/wk) basis, but the more availability you have, the more hours you will consistently get. Also, there are opportunities to gather almost full-time hours if you take another position within the store (in a different department) or help out with receiving and stock.
Advice to Senior Management – Since a lot of the employees are young students, I believe it would be very beneficial to offer a variety of internships throughout the year to cultivate their potential as leaders, keep them motivated on the floor as sales associates, and encourage their loyalty to the after graduation. Also, for the sales associates who are older or strictly working part-time, it may be beneficial to the stores' sales, its customers, and to corporate to cross-train or rotate them through various departments. This will broaden their knowledge base, challenge them to learn new things, broaden employee rapport, and increase customer satisfaction.

I worked at Herbergers
Pros – Flexible schedule, other employees are usually nice people, management is good, pay is alright, the clothing discount is 25% after 1 year of employment
Cons – Management does a terrible job of disciplining poor associates, lots of time standing which is painful on your feet because you have to wear dress shoes which usually are not very comfortable, during the holiday season it gets ridiculously busy and customers are usually rude and irritated which makes your day worse as well.
Advice to Senior Management – Revamp the store because it looks like a Kohls, bring back the sturdy shopping bags with handles, put in windows on the upper floor, and CHANGE THE MUSIC EVERY NOW AND THEN.
