Lots of opportunities to move up, not a lot of competent management.

    Pros

Working hard allows quick opportunities for advancement. If you're looking for a solid job with a company that has been around a long time, it's not a bad choice.

    Cons

Not managed well and has too much drama between colleagues and locations. Very high school type atmosphere sometimes. Do not put customers first very often.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you know which employees are helping the company and which are hurtig it. Way too many people in decision-making roles who have no business making decisions.

    Cons

Hertz is making it harder to get commission.

    Advice to Management

To set standards that you, yourself can do.

    Pros

Large company, so if it's been a really good year, you might get some nice trickle down incentives. Benefits on par with the level of company.

    Cons

Insultingly low pay for the industry, position, and work that's asked of you.
Leaders and managers are driven into the ground and only make slightly more than the people they manage. When people leave, that position is never filled, just restructured as if it never existed, and the "next in line" employee now has two jobs with the same title and same pay.
Executive leadership is unbelievably short sighted, staffing issues are only solved by hiring the cheapest applicants or temp employees which leads to high turnover, so as a leader you will spend 80% of your time training and rarely hit your stride as a team.
Employees are given lofty goals without any tools to reach them.

    Advice to Management

Hire less people at higher pay and qualifications. Provide better incentives to work hard.

    Pros

They pay you for working. Work is fairly easy and they are generally flexible with you. It's really hard to be fired

    Cons

The company is driven by the board of directors. All that's on their minds is money today. They don't have a vision beyond a couple years. Too much bureaucratic bill that drives decision making. They are outsourcing huge chunks of the org.

    Advice to Management

If you create a vision and support that with values you should try to follow those. The ceo is new but things will only get worse. The board will drive the company into the ground.

    Pros

The pay and benefits are OK.

    Cons

Complete lack of leadership. Management acts as if it is completely helpless when resolving inter-departmental problems. Many in the Financial Department (including senior management ) do not know what they are doing, therefore they cannot train new comers. Complete lack of honesty and communication.

    Advice to Management

    Be honest. Solve some problems

    Pros

Good benefits and option to work from home.

    Cons

No job security, tons of cut backs, stingy on incentives for the sales department. Outsourcing most of their call center departments over seas, which results in lay offs...Could have been avoided if they didn't have so many accounting "errors" and needing to save money.

    Advice to Management

My immediate supervisor was very supportive and under standing. As far as management further up than that, they don't really listen to your concerns and opinions.

    Pros

The employees I worked with were dedicated and genuinely wanted the company to be successful. I made some good friends of some of them. They had a decent benefits package.

    Cons

Ever since Hertz became a publicly traded entity, the executive management of this company has basically stripped it to the bone in terms of talent in order to save money and make the company look good financially for a future sell-off. They have destroyed what was once a wonderful place to work and it is a crying shame. What was once a place where you were proud to tell others you worked has become a sort of right of passage, or gauntlet to endure for the experience until better employment is found.
