I worked at Hertz full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You get 40% discount on rentals.

    Cons

    Poor management
Slow to get any kind of authorization
Managers just point fingers and say do it with no instruction

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take time to properly train. Its understandable that the company is going through a big change but new employees shouldnt be just dumped into a position expecting how to do things.

I have been working at Hertz full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I wish I could think of one.

    Cons

    The employees are not appreciated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I previously worked for a large international corporation that valued their employees and I can tell you that all of the employees were extremely grateful for that. They worked as hard as they could for the company. In the case of Hertz there seems to be almost 0 consideration for the welfare of the employees. Most especially during State of Emergencies when senior management tells the employees that they will only close if they receive a phone call telling them to shut their doors. Ridiculous when you have a personal driver and don't care about the folks who don't. The folks who risk their lives and their vehicles to get to work. It sure makes for VERY bad morale when you are forced to use your vacation time for a blizzard OR an unprecidented hurricane! Just utterly ridiculous. Give to your employees in meaningful ways and they will work their tails off for you. It's human nature.

I have been working at Hertz full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Their benefits are ok with your choice of company vehicles and stock purchase discounts. They require many hours of training annually.

    Cons

Every year expenses go on lock down in the 4th quarter and layoffs loom regardless of YOY improvements. There is absolutely no work life balance at this company. The expectation is that you work through holidays and vacations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Balance expectations through out the year and temper layoffs. Your bonuses are big enough already without laying off worker bees.

I worked at Hertz full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

good people, good process, always looking toward the future. CEO is energetic and charismatic with good financial and investment skills.

    Cons

low salary, overworked and underpaid, does not treat long term employees fairly, changing their minds every 5 minutes with no long term strategy. The systems are old and india is a bad return on investement for the IT that was outsourced. Too many chiefs and not enough indians.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

treat your talent better and stop promoting people who don't deserve it just because they are yes men. Slow down and measure whether your improvements are returning results before making further changes to the organization. Moving the corporate offices to FL and changing the entire DNA of an organization that has been highly successful for many years is is very risky business. New blood is good, but there has to be a balance of long term intelligence to continue improvements and successful business endeavors.

I have been working at Hertz full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Fortune 500 company with good prospects of career advancement for talented individuals
    - Solid business prospects going forward
    - good work/life balance

    Cons

    - very focused on short term goals; constantly cutting costs, almost to the bone
    - corporate relocation to FL has been met with a large amount of resentment; vast majority of employees choosing not to relocate or to leave the company altogether
    - entire groups in shambles due to poor senior management decisions (esp. relocation)
    - quality of people working is marginal at best
    - low pay relative to other industries

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think long and hard about the relocation to FL. Time will tell if it was the right move, but with so many people jumping ship, it is a tough sell to new employees.
