    Pros

World wide company with tons of opportunities to promote or relocate.

    Cons

Employee moral is low, upper tiers of management don't seem to see or know what really happens on the bottom.

    Advice to Management

Actually listen and pay attention to the needs/wants and advice all of the employees.

I have been working at Hertz

    Pros

As a full time you do get health benefits, which has a really good health coverage. I have been given tips in cash, once even offered lunch courtesy of the customer i was dropping off. 1 hour lunch. laid back management

    Cons

Ive been working here for 8 months and havent been even in the mention for a pay raise, the location i work i vacuum the cars in the back behind the office but there is no cover for shade just straight sun beaming down. no incentives for the utility position , all the other positions get incentives and possible advancement. under staffed at most locations

    Advice to Management

Bring incentives for all positions. when i first started back in october of 2014 the area manager would buy lunch for everyone at least once or twice a month then went to happy hour after work on company card. Only because our office was 1st in the area with most sales and upgrades. bring that back

    Pros

Take home car and not having to pay gas or auto insurance.

    Cons

Long hours, short staffed 99% of the time, no work/ life balance, days with no lunch breaks or even time to think. And upper management has a callous attitude towards the locations "needs and wants" as to grow the business or have our customers satisfied. No room for advancement to upper level management. The bonus plans keep changing on you without notice. Unrealistic goals and expectations, from upper management who are "OBLIVIOUS" as to even how to hit any of the target goals set on the "business plan". Lack of communication and transparency at all levels top to bottom. You will receive constant threats from upper management who love to make an example out of you in front of others. Not to mention lots of angry and upset customers due to lack of fleet V.S true Demand. Area Managers act as if that is an issues they can't control and will not go out of their way to help allocate you more fleet to meet the customers needs. So end result is you having a bad survey then being held responsible for it, even though its out of you're "control", due to lack of help and fleet.

    Advice to Management

When you’re the expert, talk like one. Praise publicly and criticize privately Don’t present problems without solutions Be responsive Be the Leader instead of the "BOSS" trying to always show you have power. Listen carefully Show gratitude towards the ones who are in the battle fields daily! Fight to keep everyone a job!

    Pros

Free Car and Gas if your a Branch Manager and above. Benefits used to be better but are about industry average.

    Cons

City GMs have no idea what their doing. The Chicago Metro and Southside Areas in particular. Expecting managers to make money with no staffing and no cars. Cutting hours of union drivers who help locations get cars. Promoting unethical sales tactics, then firing staff members who use those methods to reach sales goals because GMs and AMs are having their jobs threatened, but if you get caught, there's the "its your butt not mine mentality". A Chicago GM has gotten whole areas fired doing this, now employees are quitting because they know they can do better than Hertz. And don't expect to ever receive your bonus or know how to calculate it. Bonuses are routinely paid out late and staff members are still owed bonuses from March 2014 up to this point. One Area manager recently said he wrote off his bonuses owed because he thinks we will never get them. That's leadership for you.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of bad GMs and terrible accounting practices that only hurt frontline employees and not upper managements pockets. Enterprise continues to be a better option for customers and employees.

    Pros

dedicated employees, always willing to help a co-worker

    Cons

no communication or direction from Upper Management. One hand does not know what the other is doing.

    Advice to Management

It is not all about the numbers. Engagement with employees would be a welcome change and go a long way toward removing the toxic attitudes.

    Pros

Being a branch manager you get to take any car home on the lot. Car insurance is taken care of and not having to worry about paying for gas.

    Cons

Hours can be kinda grueling. Having to take turns covering Saturday shifts even though managers shouldn't have to worry about working the weekends. Unrealistic expectations. Lack of upper management support. Company constantly changing rules and management constantly changing.

    Advice to Management

Take more interest in the local editions and the managers who run it. Give some type of reward when things go right. I feel like employees live in fear of their job being taken away because of constant company changes.
