Pros
Good Office environment, opportunity to interact with global counterparts and improve communication skills,
Cons
Working in some depts restrict the use of marketable skills, thereby reducing the portability of the professional to different companies.
Pros
The company is a good place to learn about the industry. There is a decent amount of flexibilty and alternative work schedules.
Cons
Hewitt Associates upper management is not in tune with the reality of how operations are completed on a daily basis. The goals set are unrealistic and often unattainable. The jobs are being sent offshore.
Advice to Senior Management
The leadership team at Hewitt should identify ways to accurately measure metrics and keep jobs within the United States. Create initiatives that will help the company and employees, not just something to do.
Pros
Work Life balance
Facilities and campus
Cons
Less growth opportuntiies.
Less focus on getting new technologies.
Pros
Work was interesting, intellectually challenging
Cons
Portability of professional exp is poor for some depts, meaning the exp is not valued outside organization.
Pros
- excellent work life balance with work from home options
- decent pay and benefits . Although benefits keep getting worse after the sell off to AON.
Cons
-Very Outdated technology ( been using the same tools since the last 10 yrs i've been working here - no kiddin - 10 yrs !)
- No oppotunity to grow in terms of technology roles
- Too much outsourcing ( they call global sourcing) . Folks in India do 80% of the work. They initially started off saying , India associates will do the 'unwanted' / "redundant" work but have gone miles ahead - go figure !
Advice to Senior Management
Company needs to invest in technology and its people . Go for a technology career in hewitt only if you want work life balance and nothin else period
Pros
My co-workers and managers were friendly and supportive. As a large company, there are ample opportunities to move elsewhere in the firm.
Cons
I believe that the compensation for my position was less than some of the competitors. I also found it very difficult to get information about Hewitt's operations in other countries (I considered moving to Asia if there was a suitable position).
Advice to Senior Management
I think that the company would benefit if all of the different sections communicated more, and if there were some systematic way to share resources, as I have the impression that certain teams or departments strive to "reinvent the wheel" for certain tasks, when someone else in the company already has found a solution.
Pros
This is fully dependent on the group you work in. Work-life balance, working from home.
Cons
Stagnation of position and pay - not much room for advancement due to limited positions.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay higher contributing employees more. The approach of spreading the wealth is good in theory but it short changes those that are pulling most of the weight.
Pros
Challenging work and understanding managment. Can be very flexible. You meet a variety of individuals. Thorough training procedures. Good benefits package and 401k program.
Cons
Hewitt uses alot of Spherion contractors. Sadly, many of these contractors work very hard hoping to get hired on; however, management rarely has any intention of doing so. It is truly sad the amount of turnover and lost potential that Hewitt misses out on because of this. Long hours during the busiest seasons
Advice to Senior Management
If you take the time to train your employees then you should retain them.
Pros
I would have to say thats being able to acquire the experience and knowledge.
Cons
Too much work. Not enough pay.
Advice to Senior Management
They can be a little more understanding with the workload on associates.
Pros
Good work and life balance
Cons
Too much pressure on getting too many things done at the same time. Leadership is inefficient with processes introduced that resulted in overhead rather than benefiting the organization.
