    Cons

    Pros

There were diverse business and technology areas to work in at HP.

    Cons

HP has the business strategy of the month syndrome. When one strategy does not deliver against the numbers quoted to the analysts senior management just moves on to the next one. There is absolutely no value placed on the employees, contrary to what is proclaimed. People are subject to arbitrary changes (like forced co-location, pay offs) with no concern about the impact.

    Advice to Management

Start valuing employees! Develop sound business strategies instead of short term bandaids.

    Pros

The CEO is really working to make HP a true industry leader in tech innovation. My co-workers are smart, dedicated and always willing to assist each other. Career growth and personal growth are recognized as going hand-in-hand and highly encouraged.

    Cons

This is a flat organizational structure and as a result promotions and advancement are rare. Salaries are low compared to some other local IT shops but the benefits are great.

    Pros

    You can work from home

    Cons

They do not promote from within. Management frequently raves about new managers brought in from outside the company, as if nobody within the company could have filled the role. Which makes sense, they do not develop personnel. Travel and training were eliminated to reduce costs. All salaries were cut 10% to make numbers which enabled Senior Management to receive over $100 million in bonuses. Cutting 50,000 jobs over 2 year period. Wrote off $8 billion in bad investments in 2 successive quarters.

    Advice to Management

    value Employees.

    Pros

Not micromanaged. Left alone to do my job.

    Cons

Constant Re-organization. Always getting new accounts Role changing before getting the opportunity to succeed reactive management structure Stopped investing in R&D under Mark Heard and fell behind in innovation.

    Advice to Management

Allow re-orgs the chance to succeed before mixing it up again every 6-9 months. Invest in R&D and innovation for the long term. Drive a true-sales culture.

    Pros

I loved the team I worked on. We never got to meet face to face as we were a global team, however they were all knowledgeable and helpful and I really enjoyed my time at HP. I also loved the flexibility of working from home.

    Cons

I had multiple supervisors, it was like a revolving door of who took the position.

    Advice to Management

More team building with supervisors and employees would be helpful.

    Pros

A great place to gain experience! Education is exemplary. Fast paced company, no none sense organization.

    Cons

Massive Layoffs. Cutting past the "bone". Knowledge base escaped!

    Advice to Management

Retain contractors instead of having your knowledge base go away.

    Pros

Ability to work with some of the top technical in the industry

    Cons

Lots of employees, easy for people to get lost in the shuffle

    Advice to Management

There needs to be the ability for larger pay increases for young, new talent as they progress in their career. Current system lumps them too closely with highly paid, experienced talent where salaries need to be frozen or lowered.
