Current Employee – been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great people (especially long time employees and new college hires). Good large corporation benefits.
Cons – Not much news here, disfunctional and mediocre Board of Directors, averaage senior management.
Advice to Senior Management – Cut the overhead & management fat. Eliminate &/or reduce the Business Groups & Units stovepipes. Allocate more resources to innovation and customer facing resources.

Current Employee – been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Big name and a big brand are nice. Easy to explain who your employer is at social gatherings.
Cons – You're one of about 350,000 and that becomes pretty evident. There is a lot of red tape to do anything outside the box. A lot of products rushed to market. Work/Life balance is what you make of it - but it's easy to be swept away into an always on lifestyle.

Former Employee – worked at Hewlett-Packard for more than 7 years
Pros – Opportunity to work with great people; performance based raises; global company; decent benefits package; some flexibility with hours and remote work depending on job role
Cons – US based employees face constant threat of outsourcing and layoff; salary is not consistent with market; do more with less culture, high stress

Former Employee – worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – People are respected and given responsibility. I worked on interesting projects and with very smart people. Lot of opportunities to learn new skills. Competitive salary and benefits.
Cons – In recent years cut backs to R&D have caused a lot of the innovation to stop. A lot of good people left or were let go.
Advice to Senior Management – Invest in R&D. Don't try to be IBM. Get out of commodity businesses.

Former Employee – worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – free food at their hq
lots of technical challenges
If you are able to get on a smaller project, you can be left alone for a while and be a lot more efficient. If you are on a flagship product, expect a lot of time wasting with meetings
Cons – management is lacking a purpose or direction. they are still stuck in the past and the heavy processes are killing innovation
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
