Find another job at your job to keep your job, or you'll be jobless.

    Services Information Developer (Former Employee)
    Pontiac, MI

Pros- Flexible schedules with the opportunity to work from home was VERY nice.
    - Decent pay for an "entry level" position.
    - In-house cafeteria has a great staff and good food.

Cons- Nosy coworkers like to spread rumors and talk too loud while spreading those rumors.
    - Ever-present threat of losing your job if your contract is short/doesn't renew, or it takes you too long to find a company to hire you (find a job at your job).
    - Managers tend to listen to gossip and then do their own gossiping. They may even call your parents to tattle on you if they are too engrossed within that gossip and have no desire to learn the truth.
    - Little to no room for promotions or raises

Advice to Senior ManagementManagers need to :
    - Become more familiar with HR, State, and Federal laws regarding employee privacy
    - Play a bigger role in the placement of employees and not ignore assistance requests
    - Assist employees in creating goals for themselves and take an active role in getting them additional training.

Great Senior Management and good employee engagement.

    IT Project Manager (Former Employee)
    Taguig (Philippines)

ProsHP provides good opportunities for those with initiative and are high performers. Senior Management shows genuine concern for the growth of their people. This is a great place for fresh graduates.

ConsOverall salary and benefits package is not competitive. HP has not fully recovered from the recession. Annual salary increase and overall rewards and recognition program is not sufficient to make experienced employees stay.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on keeping your talents instead of hiring from outside.

Old processes in a new world

    Sales Manager (Current Employee)
    Miami, FL

ProsRespect for the employee, culture, values and way to conduct business. HP is a great school where you can learn almost everything (from technology to business). Work from home (while last)

ConsConstant budgetary cuts will lead to disaster. Tons of internal unproductive meetings are a waste of time. Too many people doing similar things and old bureaucratic processes. You will become the master of Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook since there are no other tools.

Advice to Senior Management2% annual salary increase (if anything) is a slap in the face.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Great people to work with

    IT Engineer (Former Employee)
    Palo Alto, CA

ProsI enjoyed my time at HP due to the people I worked with, very positive and helpful. No one will leave you hanging.

ConsManagement constantly sends mixed messages. "Our people are very important... sorry we are laying you off." "We are hitting our numbers and on the right track... due to budget cuts we won't pay for equipment that you need at home to do your job." And so on.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe business climate is tough, everyone understand that, but when we aren't firing on all cylinders don't take it out on those doing what they are told to do. Look at your management that is making these decisions.

    Constant Layoffs

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood people to work with, many opportunities to move lateral.

ConsConstant Layoff every quarter drive the morale really low. Back to office 5 days a week and checking the batch records take away the flexibility.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend more effort to drive up revenue than drive employee away.
