Pros
Good opportunities for cross-development. Wide portfolio of products and services. Excellent brand recognition.
Cons
Unresponsive internal bureaucracy. Conflicting goals. Massive supply chain prone to breakdown. Continuous cost-cutting of salaries and benefits. incoherent R+D strategies. Low morale. Complicated organization to navigate. Heavy internal focus on CYA.
Advice to Senior Management
Simplify. Become more partner friendly. Ask yourself when looking at a process whether it would make sense to anyone on the outside looking in.
Pros
HP is a market leader is most of it's product categories. It offers a great place to start , good support levels gives a new person a good chance succes
Cons
Cuts, cuts, cuts more focus on internal costs than people. Even if the company does well financialy it still looks at the easy way to increase profitability (people and benefits)
Advice to Senior Management
People were the greatest asset of the company and management should take time to value, foster and reward the people that not only increase revenenu but those who help the customer
Pros
HP has a great benefits package and good "work at home" policies.
It also has good research capabilities
Cons
No senior management direction and no real applications development capabilities.

Define the markets
Define the products that meet the market needs
VBuild Client relationships - get out of the office
Manage in detail - stop sending stone tablets from the mountain with Ten Commandments
Pros
You will have the opportunity to work with smart really people from time to time.
Cons
Bureaucratic organization. Focus on quarterly results which borders myopia. Very competitive market.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to be less of a spreadsheet manager, even though that's difficult in such a large firm.
