I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The company is commencing programmes towards a path to try to improve its culture and values.

    Cons

Work/life balance is almost non-existent and, unfortunately, that is the standard for the majority of the company. Due to multiple work reductions (50K+) the labour has been redistributed to the existing personnel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realign and reduce the top executive team.

Big company with lots of opportunities and managers that (mostly) shield you from the corporate drama.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Large resources. Clear expectations. Manageable, balanced workloads. Managers take care of most of the dramatic, people moving nonsense. They try to push their open communication mindset and culture to keep managers honest and avoid Mad Men esque politics.

    Cons

Nauseating corporate lingo abound. Big company inertia (slow to change and adopt). Lack of rigor depending on teams (no coding standards, verrrry flexible expectations).

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    office culture, work-life balance, breaks,

    Cons

Compensation, promotions, hiring freeze, uncertainty, almost everyone that went to a management position or teamed position obtained this by having good relationships with management. A normal employee cannot grow that fast ..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensation, promotions, support peoples top 5 skills in this way you will maintain the people within the company..
Inform the people if they are almost ending their graduate contracts, if they get renewed or not.. not excuses for hiring freeze etc..

HP is a very customer focused company and has some great products. HP always tries to do the right thing and act ethically. The pay and benefits are good. The work - life balance is good and it is a very family friendly company.

    Cons

HP faces major challenges due to the weak PC - printer - outsourcing markets.

    Pros

Great opportunities to stand out as an individual. Large access to career development and studies.

    Cons

Slow HR processing on issues such as bonuses and salary raises. Sometimes a reoccurring stressful environment. Salaries not reflecting the market competitors.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Tokyo office is beautifully designed, and the interior layout is very conducive to work. The company as a whole has strong leadership and strategic vision, and there is a lot of flexibility in the way you can work. Has an excellent cafeteria, with an excellent view of Tokyo Sky Tree.

    Cons

Location of the Tokyo office is away from CBD, and quite a distance from the nearest train and subway station, which causes clients to walk long distances to get to the office. There are no good restaurants or places to go to for lunch outside of the office nearby. The Tokyo office employees are not international and globally oriented, and many cannot converse in English. There is a need for more international people with a global thinking in this office. People need to become more international in their thinking.
