I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

HP generally provides the resources to get the job done. They are on the high end of the compensation curve. HP has done a good job in ranking people so that the good people are retained and the bad people are let go.

    Cons

Unfortunately, HP also sometimes lets good people go because they are trying to do an average reduction in force and dont help the good people find jobs within the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more support for good people during restructuring to make sure you dont lose the good.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Freedom to work from home, great customers and reasonable quotas. Culture was evolving over time.

    Cons

High Travel and a lot of red tape to work your deals through. Systems needed to be updated to make work time more effective and challenging to get accurate data.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update systems to make jobs easier to do that allows for maximum time spent in front of clients.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Entering year four (4) of a five year recovery plan. Making progress in almost all sectors. Very client focused. A great place to work and a great bunch of people. The pride and dedication to HP from its employees is evident.

    Cons

Still loosing deals because cost structure is to high. Allot of flux due to downsizing, implementing new tools to reduce costs, and push to retain and grow existing accounts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep an eye on your account management teams. They are feeling allot of pressure to do anything to maintain/grow existing accounts.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard as an intern (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There's a lot of smart people and good benefits. Worked on a semi-independent branch of HP in small teams and an open environment.

    Cons

Many things seemed a bit bogged down by procedure. Company was in a state of rapid change after joining HP.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to foster improvements in company culture. Look to the smaller semi-autonomous organizations within the company as a guide for how to improve quality of engineering life.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The company has great resources for its employees for training and support. The leadership in my organization changed as soon as I was hired and that made it difficult to navigate the customers and projects because my regional manager was new to the organization and the products. The compensation for TPM's was great for Atlanta.

    Cons

There were not many opportunities for advancement in the specific organization I worked for within HP Software.
