    Pros

Nice people, well organized and clean work environment. On site cafeteria with reasonably priced menu.

    Cons

Contractors generally treated like second class citizens, obvious nepotism in hiring decisions, clear signs of business decline and an aging workforce with reluctance to adapt to modern technological landscape.

    Advice to Management

It's doubtful that HP management is truly looking to do anything other than improve short term profits to pad their CV, before jumping ship. The next VP of whatever will simply come along, do the same thing until the rest of HP is slowly sold off for scraps .

    Advice to Management

Stop the layoffs and remove excess middle management.

    Pros

There are plenty of innovation initiatives and technology exposure is excellent.

    Cons

-- Constant reorganizations, teams being told they are safe and then are let go en masse.
-- Budget issues means it is difficult to order routine office supplies, let alone new computer accessories.
-- Raises are insultingly low if at all and bonuses have declined sharply over the last three years.

    Pros

One of the world's most successful and recognizable corporations. Plenty of chances for promotional and lateral movement.

    Cons

Constant looking over shoulders waiting for news of impending layoffs

    Advice to Management

Return to the HP Way. It worked beautifully for 60 years.

    Pros

Learned how to survive in a tumultuous environment.

    Cons

HR policies only favor VP and above or sales people. Delivery staff are intentionally understaffed and under paid.

    Advice to Management

Manage the services business and the manufacturing business separately. Empower your services employees to be successful and increase your staffing levels.

    Pros

Recognizable name in the high tech industry with a big footprint worldwide.

    Cons

Very poor management decisions from former and current CEO on down have damaged the companies reputation and impeded it's ability to innovate. Repeated large acquisitions that were failures led to a drop in profits which caused the company to cut quality in delivering products and services. Diminishing quality of products and services caused more hits to profits and thus more cuts. Moral for many employees is bad as they see wave after wave of layoffs as the company contracts in size. CEO is hell bent on turning a profit but is doing so by slashing R&D budgets as well as laying off quality employees. HP is a good example of a company that makes decisions based on insuring shareholders get their dividends but the ship is taking on water and slowly sinking. The days of HP being at the top of the tech industry are behind them and a slow slide into mediocrity makes them a company to stay away from for employment and purchasing their products.

    Advice to Management

Happy employees make a company successful. Repeated layoffs over several years will not result in happy employees.

    Cons
