Pros
Overall, Hewlett-Packard is a good employer to work for as it provides opportunity for me to growth and advance, as well as a good work environment.
Cons
The company is not really invest enough in innovation.
Advice to Senior Management
We have too much focus now as a whole, it might be better to focus on a few to really lead and change the industry, and to do more investment in innovation and talents. Cost cutting is not a sustainable solution.

1. General name brand recognition

1. If you're located out of a non-Western country, then you are treated as a second-class employee who services the HPers in the U.S. or Europe
2. Pay is not competitive to other western headquartered companies (or even some Chinese IT companies e.g. Neusoft) with "outsourced" locations near you
3. Too many "people managers"! Many of them don't understand the technical product or its development cycle
Advice to Senior Management
Morale is low among the rank & file at HP. Turnover will continue to be high if HP management in Palo Alto and overseas, doesn't start recognizing and rewarding loyal & talented employees -- who are referred to as "resources" at HP :( Those 'resources' will continue to take their talent to IBM or SAP or ...

poor career development opportunity, little salary raise, too many email communication, too many reports, sometimes have to work at irregular time

it is very flexible to work in HP, the environment is good, people are professional and nice, and good place for career development as well.

business units are widely set and bring more competitors, there are not many HP branded competative software and service products. and yes, too many cost down initiatives.

streamline all the business units, own more strong software products, see more possibilities to grown business with hight margins and/or profits.

You can work at home, the working time is not fixed. Most of the HP managers are kind, unlike most China local companies, they usually are too tough to their employees.
Cons
Manager almost know nothing about IT management and don't have clear plans in their mind, what they care is all about money and customer, it is more like an insurance company than a technical company

Care more about team management as well as money

Either #1 or #2 in almost every major division

No job opportunities for American Engineers
All engineering jobs are moving to either Taiwan, China or India and Americans have not been given chance to move with their jobs.
They do not value their employee's. Employee's ratings mean nothing when it comes to layoff's. You can be a K performer and still be laid off because you are not in Asia.
All employee's took a 5% permanent paycut last year while the executive VP's took home millions and millions dollars worth of bonuses and options. How do you justify that?

Make this a place that people would be proud to work at again.
