Pros
Strong company culture (the HP way), great teammates (intelligent, creative, open) and a job to be proud of (work with the best technologies).
Cons
It is a decent job with fair compensation -- don't expect to get obscene salaries the way you would in banking or finance.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize that engineers are assets, not costs. We could be a great company of innovation and change. Protect HP talent and protect the HP Way!
Pros
Good employee benefits eg sick pay
Good options to move within the company
Flexible hours and working location- as long as you complete your work, the manager doesn't need to see your face at a desk from 9.00am until 5pm
Cons
The total focus on next quarters earnings report to the exclusion of all else has almost killed one of the best companies in the world.
Bureaucratic and slow moving.
Invariably hear about major HP decisions in the news before we get internal communications. This is frequently embarrassing when customers know more than we do.
No real internal knowledge management / collateral systems.
Many consecutive years of pay freezes, cost cutting, travel bans and benefits cutting whilst massively increasing executive remuneration has drained all staff morale.
Advice to Senior Management
Put some effort into retaining and hiring good staff. Spend money on bringing staff benefits in line with competitors instead of cutting all costs to artificially line the next quarterly accounts and pad the executive pay trough.
Above all else, bring back the 'HP Way' and invest in R&D to bring out cool products that people want to buy. Make HP into the next Apple!
Pros
its been 5 + years working for HP i can say i was good place to work but not now. Dedicated people working for HP. completing the work way before dead line. lot of energy at workplace
Cons
even after completing the work management is least concerned about employees. no rewards to employees. they provide a certificate to the team taking colour printout in office printer
.
HP is selling off Tablet for lowest price. they cant even give preference to employees to purchase..( not asking for free like Microsoft win7 phone)
poor management response in answering queries (even idiot can sense its a stupid answer from management)
Advice to Senior Management
Employees really dont care who is the CEO of company.. they only care about Work and returns for the work they have done.. Care for your employees
Pros
high increament after a year of working but that only happens in 2008. Employee age is about 25 - 30
Cons
management is messy especially the high management. Very political at times. However, the management is still trying to get work and life balance working environment.
Advice to Senior Management
management is messy especially the high management. Very political at times. However, the management is still trying to get work and life balance working environment.
Pros
Chance to work with global teams like UK, USA....etc
Cons
All of TEAM LEADS, PROJECT LEADS are chinees people so that they are giving chance and oppertunity to another chinees people.
Advice to Senior Management
Give oppertunity to all other country people
Pros
- Relax working environment and supporting work-life balance
- Flexible working hours and good deposition of previous HP value and culture
- Employees there are friendly and willing to share.
- Great place to be retired there
Cons
Terrible compensation package for employees. Both salary and bonus are miserable.
Mark had been cutting cost of everything but his salary for ages. Short-term is good for keeping stock price and finance book, but the company is losing talent with an extremely fast pace.
Senior management team doesn't value and respect people. The only gauge in the company is the performance matrix (which is crucial).
The outlook is dim and the chance to pick up is slim.
Advice to Senior Management
Good luck with your career while you are looking at the matrix.
Pros
Best working hour and flexible time (e.g., work form home, can come office to anytime if there is no urgent issue)
Cons
low salary
low increment
low bonus range like 5%, 2%
no promotion
no achievement for low level employee
Advice to Senior Management
should give chances to low level employe and improve the communication with them
Pros
1) Great opportunities to learn and grow
2) Great colleagues willing to share knowledge
3) Excellent processes
4) Flexible working arrangements possible
Cons
1) Has become impersonal
2) Profit sharing formulae does not reward employees who contribute
Advice to Senior Management
Need to provide better rewards to employees who perform well
Pros
Challenging experiences to deepen professional expertise.
Cons
Can be limited in the recognition opportunities through the year.
Advice to Senior Management
Revive some of the past HP way people practices.
Pros
Pro family, very talented colleagues, great middle managements.
Cons
Limited chances for career advancements, salary not comparable with same roles in the industry, folks are often stretched and overworked.
Advice to Senior Management
Clearer direction and communications on plans.
