    Pros

A variety of roles and a great crowd to work with.

    Cons

Made redundant the same week that HP advertised the exact same job. I was not allowed to apply for it.

Received a £120 long term bonus award that got paid in to a US bank account set up by HP.. It cost me £35 to get the bonus paid to me in the UK!

Hard working people ignored and are subject to stupid ideas from above.

    Advice to Management

    Undercover Boss.

One size does not fit all.

You are not just a US company.

    Pros

    Work Life Balance, flexible benefits

    Cons

Poor Pay, decisions are made in the US not at a local level

    Advice to Management

There are too many people doing mickey mouse roles in HP that add very little value, reduce contractor spend why pay someone £500 a day for 3 years, contractors are only ever meant to be short term, waste of money!!

    Pros

Immediate staff were friendly and very knowledgeable, and are an asset to the company. Great flexibility to working locations. I could work from home a few days per week.

    Cons

Local and senior management teams are not present and don't have a view on reality. They manage by fear and intimidation. There was a lot of back stabbing staff and you couldn't trust them. No pay increase for 8 years. Morale at an all time low.

    Advice to Management

Wake up before all the talent is gone and so is the company!!

Badly managed organisation with low levels of integrity & vicious policies.

    Pros

Possibility to work from home if you are in the appropriate business unit.
Pension package is fairly good considering the industry has seen considerable changes to such areas.

    Cons

Regardless of your commitment to HP "first's" - you will still be dropped like a lead weight when a much cheaper offshore replacement can be found to fulfill your role. Don't commit your life to this company, they will never be loyal in return. This has happened within the past three years to *all* close colleges that cover many business units within the company. Certainly helps to be American, certainly in my 30 years in the industry HP has to be the most distasteful employer and if I was accepting an opportunity I would most certainly not consider staying there for more than 2 years. VERY poor investment in staff, training (if you can get it) - is sparse, related to internal matters only and not worth anything outside of the organisation. You may find yourself leaving having given your 'everything' only to be considered no longer qualified for the roll you were actually doing.

    Advice to Management

Stop looking for short sighted goals and consider long term investment in staff. You might find the staff happier and more eager to fulfill more than the bare minimum of their duties.
I would NEVER work for HP again and I've been there for some considerable time.
