I worked at Hickory Farms part-time for less than a year

    Pros

If you're outgoing, can stand for hours, and can deal with a few strangers that glare darkly at you. You'll be great.

You'll need to either be a "people-person" or have some interest in your product.(Everything they sell is so tasty, if you doubt it you might want to reconsider this job since it will be hard to sell products you dislike. )

    Cons

Don't expect to have any down-time for friends or other needs(say goodbye to weekends). If you're an introvert and can't break out of your shell, you'll either get replaced or be hated by your co-workers. The scheduling was off the walls from first shift starting the day to third shift on fridays and weekends.

But all of the above will only happen if you tell your manager that you're interest is in making money and putting in as much hours as plausible. My second week on the job I had increased the POS(point of sales) that the higher management greenlighted me to work 40+ hours with over-time on the weekend and I got a 600$ check my next payday.

your paycheck is bi-weekly aka two weeks of work gets you one check, if you're single and aren't living of your paychecks... you might want to reconsider this job.

Weathery days will either be the most hectic day or the slowest day, so bring a book/candy. Prepare honey water for your throat for the oncoming laryngitis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your booth managers. If they can tell via interview that someone isn't going to be faithful, don't hire them behind the manager's back.

I worked at Hickory Farms full-time for less than a year

    Pros

the management is absolutely amazing. you get a great starting pay, and you get great hours, you get better hours for this holiday job than most other jobs. the atmosphere is friendly, energetic and family oriented. it doesn't matter where you are placed, you see people get gifts that make them smile, and you know you've just made their day.

    Cons

you stand on your feet for eight to ten hours, and it can get tiring interacting with all the people during the day, often lunches are short.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    keep doing great!

I worked at Hickory Farms full-time for less than a year

    Pros

As an STL and new comer to the company, It was bearable because I love contact with the public &&&&&&& my supervisor is wonderful !!!! As I just stated, contact with the public is wonderful. BUT, if I heard one more time they were waiting to purchase when 75% off, I'll spit !!

    Cons

As an STL, I was the "newbie" and the others had worked at the kiosk before. When closing a store, there's a choice of rehiring for next season. I ended up with a couple people who stunk and they were rehires!!!!!

I was under-staffed from the get go, had those 2 who absolutely stunk, then my team passed around the flu.....Plus I worked my ARSE OFF 55+ hours a week & was paid for the allotted hours for the STL for the week.

My boss fessed up that there was no way I could have made goal (I did math on product).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe Headway employment agency isn't your way to go to get good folks who FREAKIN' CARE !

I worked at Hickory Farms as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Awesome teammates that worked as a true team.

    Cons

Company expectations of daily emails to read and learn outside the hourly kiosk pay. Employees should get paid if they are expected to learn new promos throughout the week while not 'on the clock' at the store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't ask for donations to Share Our Strength while throwing away perfectly good food at the end of the day.
