    Outstanding!

    Customer Care Specialist (Current Employee)
    New Haven, CT

ProsThey offer the most extensive and ongoing training that I have ever received. They keep the employees abreast of all regulations, changes, and company information. The culture, benefits, and overall work environment are incredible.

ConsIt can be challenging when dealing with people who are upset about a situation. While you must hear the brunt of their anger, it is rewarding to find solutions for them. It took a long time to become a permanent employee and after two and a half years I am still only part time.

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate a method to advance personnel quicker and offer more time to those who have remained loyal.

    motivating work place.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe culture of Higher One is one that lives its values, embraces their entreprenurial spirit and encourages innovation. It is also filled with some very smart people!

ConsNot much to say in this area. Perhaps the location. Not much in the area for lunch, must drive to downtown. The new building will have a cafeteria though.

    Great Culture!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat culture - fun activities, community involvement, free lunch 3x a week, on-site fitness facility.

Cons1-year wait to participate in the 401(k). Only offers high deductible health insurance plans.

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow employees to participate in the 401(k) when other benefits are effective - company match can be after a year, but at least let me contribute towards my retirement w/o the long wait. Provide other health insurance options - not just HDP. I'd pay more for a co-pay plan.

Great Opportunity if You're Willing to Work Hard

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsEmbrace Creativity
    Value Open Communication
    Cool Building and Free Food
    Teams generally work well together

ConsThe commitment to "There is a Way" sometimes means taking on lots of projects at once, even when resources are stretched thin.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeeping the company a great place to work will come from continuing to live out the core values, not just increasing unique benefits.

    Customer Agent

    Agent (Current Employee)

ProsFast paced, flexible hours, good moral, open communication, company culture, fun place to work, ability to work from home, positive environment,

ConsLack of support at times, weak leadership roles at times, slow responses and acknowledgment from mgmt especially via email, lower compensation scale,

Advice to Senior Managementreexamine compensation packages, evaluate management effectiveness and effectiveness of support roles, more training, more team meeting sessions, better virtual environment would be good too.
