I have been working at Hightail full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really great people with wonderful ideas. Solid product with a really exciting future. Competitive Salary. Comprehensive benefits. Fully stocked kitchen (employees help decide what it's stocked with). Located in downtown Campbell in the Pruneyard. Free gym & community center access. Employee events (new hire bagels, summer picnic, movie day, holiday party, etc...) There are really big efforts being made by upper management to listen to the ideas/wants/needs/suggestions of employees who are smart enough to speak up. If you keep your feelings to yourself, and just let what is bothering you stew, then of course you will start feeling bitter and eventually leave (which is where a lot of these negative reviews seem to be coming from). This is a great time to be at Hightail since the employees really truly are getting a voice. The company is also working on more initiatives that grow the employees into the roles they really want.

    Cons

There are a few employees that are negative and choose to complain instead of try and help fix the problem. It's a bummer to be around those types of personalities because they bring down the rest of us who are excited about where the company is going. There are also some managers that need more training on how to be a manager which can be fixed... if they are willing to learn.

    Advice to Management

Advice to management: We need to get rid of all the people who clearly don't want to be here but stay for the job security or their fat paychecks. Advice to everyone else: Every company will have their ups and downs. Yes Hightail had a pretty recent down period... but that is old news. The outlook for Hightail is bright and shiny now. Stop riding that negative train.

    Pros

Awesome work environment, fun perks and awesome co-workers/culture! Fully stocked kitchens and cool new coffee makers. Beer/wine cart ("welcome wagon")= the best part about Fridays. The Pruneyard is a great location- lots of shops and food within walking distance. Oh, and don't forget the unlimited PTO!

    Cons

Competitive space. Cloud file sharing is really heating up. This can be a con and a pro, however.

    Advice to Management

Keep the fun-loving but productive attitude!

I have been working at Hightail full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I joined about three years ago, and a little over two years ago we got a new CEO, Brad Garlinghouse. Brad has done an excellent job instilling a strong culture that rewards risk taking and passion. The other senior executives brought on board have also been outstanding. There were some disgruntled employees who were let go after Brad's arrival. It's unfortunate some unhappy vocal workers can make more noise than the happy employees (who don't tend to post reviews). I have been at 6 startups over 25 years of which two went public. It's hard to find today a quality, late stage startup like Hightail with a high probability chance for IPO or being acquired. Fun, challenging work.

    Cons

The pace of the company is fast with often long hours. However we are at the forefront of making the freemium business model work so picking up fantastic skills and lessons.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on building out a distinctive, fun culture that rewards risk taking, team collaboration, and transparency. The company is refreshingly devoid of politics. With growth let's keep it that way.

    Pros

Super hot space. Work with smart, talented people who you'd have a beer with. Tons of visibility and opportunity for strong performers to fast track. Tough problems to solve. Lots of perks.

    Cons

There's a high bar - this is a con for people who just want to rest and vest.

    Advice to Management

Keep the open communication coming. Shower the love on your best people.

I have been working at Hightail full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

When I joined Hightail, I joined for the people, the role and the opportunity. I am pleased to report after almost a year into the role, I have no regrets. Hightail hosts an amazing team at all levels of the organization. It is a company full of very smart and passionate people - quite humbling. In addition, the management team is to notch and earnestly wants insights and feedback from the team. There is an open dialogue, regardless of level, which is very refreshing.

    Cons

Like everyone in the space, we are trying to do a lot, and there are just not enough hours in the day.

    Advice to Management

    Great work. Focus is critical.
