    I worked at Hill McGlynn

    Pros

    A nice introduction to sausage machine recruitment firms, but on a much smaller scale; Considered by many to be the ‘mini’ Hays of the Australian recruitment industry. Now part of the Vedior group – which a great thing to brag to your recruitment industry mates but unfortunately translates to very little at the end of the day.

    Cons

    Little or no career progression opportunities unless you have a key account. Terrible base salaries that are well under the industry standard. An exit policy that will rubbish you no matter how you choose to leave the company. No referencing for your next employer due to a ‘zero’ reference policy. General distrust and low employee morale due to the encouragement of heavy inter office competition for billings. Very little ethical practice and due diligence in recruiting. A complete focus on the bottom line without taking anything else into consideration. Very poor quality directorship and low experience, low quality senior management staff across all branches. Zero opportunity for relevant industry training. One of the highest staff turnovers I have seen in the Australian recruitment sector.

    Treat your staff like human beings and invest more time and effort into better recruitment practice and higher quality senior management.
