    Pros

compensation, work/life balance, casual dress all summer

    Cons

    Management, location, high traffic area

    Advice to Management

Positions should not political they should be earned based on merit.

I worked at Hilldrup Companies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, employees are rewarded based on performance, and there are fun employee events to increase morale. The company also has a great reputation in the moving industry as a top performer.

    Cons

Unless you are a local resident or a "friend of the family," it is not only tough to advance, but it is also extremely tough to fit in. Not a very warm or welcoming atmosphere for new employees. The "good old boys club" mentality is prominent.

    Advice to Management

Put people in positions of power who have results-driven experience, so they can properly lead their teams. Not just people with connections.

I worked at Hilldrup Companies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people are warm and friendly almost like Family. Had a great supervisor who taught me everything I need to know to survive the Moving Industry and take my experience to a higher level.

    Cons

Long hours in the summer, benefits and pay need improvement and the Company need to give women a change to raise up in Management. Seems more of a " All Boy's Club" higher up the Management chain. Not a company to work for if you are a woman and want to move up in Management.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people, they have great ideas, specially the Girls. Improve your benefits and Pay. The people will stay if they are happy!

I have been working at Hilldrup Companies as a contractor (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule (as far as days not hours). Very busy during the summer.

    Cons

Long hours most of the time. No room for advancement unless you decide to become a driver

  7. OK place to start your career but would never stay long term. Culture is terrible.

    Pros

There were some really good people at the company who cared about others. It was small and had a family feel. Pretty good benefits for the industry. I was well compensated compared to others within the company.

    Cons

VERY cliquey. If you weren't one of the good 'ol boys, then you weren't worth paying attention to. Management didn't seem to care about its employees even though they said they did. At least they did not show it with actions. Too many people were lifers and did not want to share information to have job security. Very closed and negative culture.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to your employees. There were many that had good ideas but were ignored.

    Pros

-great communication from the management -fairly flexible hours -great teamwork culture -good performance feedback and appraisals -multiple locations up and down the East Coast -well-known and respected within the moving and storage industry -expanding company

    Cons

-summer is the busiest time, creating a lot of stress and late nights -some of the marketing resources are stretched as it is a smaller company

    Advice to Management

You should continue to foster a teamwork culture as it makes the employees feel connected to a greater sense and purpose.
