Pros
Hotel discount
Global company=global opportunities
Promotes within
Cons
Many times advancements are not based on the most qualified but instead the most liked
HR not exactly ethically or organized.
Continued education not encouraged and founded properly
Daily system and IT issues that effect ability to do job at satisfactory level.
Advice to Senior Management
A multi billion company should not have system outages daily. Support the team and eliminate favoritism. Conduct random audits of HR and how they are handling employee issues and complaints, there is no one holding them accountable.
Pros
Opportunity for advancement and a long term career with great benefits. Team building is very apparent in workplace, as well as leadership.
Cons
Highly Competitive market. Large corporation, sometimes it takes longer to voice ideas or concerns to upper management
Advice to Senior Management
I would love to see more opportunities encourage education and/or educated individuals to advance quicker.
Pros
It is good for retirees or stay at home moms
Cons
Their management does not listen to the employees. They are always trying to get more and more work for no or little pay. The pay is below average for other positions at other companies. They hire from within; however, they do not train the supervisors on proper rules and regulations.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees seriously and stop making focus groups just to say you did.
Pros
Family friendly environment, many networking opportunities, senior leadership is very sharp but accessible and supportive, from the CEO down they really do care about the employees
Cons
Salary and benefits package is not the highest in the industry, it can take a very long time for decision to be made
Advice to Senior Management
Need to focus on bigger strategic decision instead of intermediate solutions, decisions need to be made quicker; less micromanagement, more flexibility in decision making
Pros
Benefits are reasonable and affordable.
Travel Discount Program
Cons
Senior management is very unethical. Promotions are based on who you know; not what you know or your qualifications or any bogus career path you are suppose to be on. If you are viewed as a threat to exposing senior leadership's ongoing cover ups, something will be made up in order to fire you.
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach. You may want to revisit your Harassment Free Workplace policy and Equal Employment Opportunity Policy again and try following both of them.
Pros
Good network of properties. Everything from low-end hotel properties to luxury brands offer a good choice for entry-level jobs.
Cons
No opportunities to grow. Despite having lots of properties, careers with HW are iffy based on the fact that upward movement is difficult if you don't kiss up enough or know the right people.
Advice to Senior Management
Start listening to your employees and taking their concerns into consideration. Also, what's with the no holiday pay policy? Completely irresponsible.
Pros
Hilton has some great travel benefits, if you can get them. I've stayed in downtown Chicago for $39 a night. The problem is each hotel holds 2 rooms max for employees and you have to book a year in advance.
Cons
The senior management isn't the strongest and seems to focus on outdoing each other instead of working together. Hilton Worldwide has competition between its brand teams when they should be working together with Marriott and Starwood as their competition. Looking at any recent ranking of hotel brands, either overall or by category, you quickly notice that the Hilton brands are near the bottom. This is the result of a lack of clear direction and a focus on the bottom line and not service.
Advice to Senior Management
Find a better leadership staff who has hospitality experience and knows how to hire and manage agencies.
Pros
Flexibility is great if you Build your own Schedule. Work-At-Home is great for those who can make the time to do so.
Cons
Low payscale, Training is 7 weeks long you cannot miss a single day during training. Make sure you have 7 week to do so or else you will be wasting your time.
Advice to Senior Management
I have issue with upper management I. My interaction with upper management is very limited. Managers is fair as can be.
Pros
The people, associates and guests. The atmosphere!
Cons
Working on Holidays! Usually each and every holiday!
Advice to Senior Management
Don't get personal with your staff!
Pros
Competitive pay, good benefits, room for linear growth, open entry-level positions in many departments
Cons
Little opportunity for growth to management, knowledge and communication of upper level management
Advice to Senior Management
Make better use of your start employees
