Poor upper management and staffing through HR.
Advice to Senior Management
Start over.

Sometimes there can be a lot of politics.

Advice to Senior Management
Hire managers with good communication skills and not quick to loose temper which is very unprofesional.
Hire managers who have experience in the actual tasks that they are expecting workers to perform;
Pros
Great money, reliable and positive staff, hardworking and understanding management
Cons
long hours during conventions 10 to 16, but the time is always worth the money
Advice to Senior Management
connect with team members before making corporate changes
Pros
Company has a great reputation, lots of different areas you can move around in if you are not satisfied where you are.
Cons
At the location I was at it was very hectic and disorganized work environment. Also slightly hostile at certain times. Very long shifts with a lot of walking. Outfits are long sleeve dark blue polyester with black pants and long black aprons - and we had to wait tables outside - extremely uncomfortable in the humidity and heat.
Advice to Senior Management
Instead of getting upset with your staff, take a look at why things are happening the way they are and spend the money and/or take the time to fix the problems not aggravate the situation. Get designated food runners for the pool bar during busy season. Accounting department: do not write your staff up when people don't sign their credit card receipts. Do not charge servers for breaking glasses.
Pros
Best part was the hours. I also appreciated the discounts.
Cons
Waiting 90 days for benifits to kick in.
Advice to Senior Management
Check your email regularly.
Pros
Great entry level positions, good opportunities for interns, travel benefits and wonderful free online training tools and resources.
Cons
If you work for an owned and managed hotel, do not expect a pay increase unless you are a union member. There is a disparity among staff in that most of the administrators are hourly, all are female and none have received a pay increase of more than .50 more than once in the last three years.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure you take care of administrators working for Hilton. We do most of the hard work perform duties belonging to our superiors while the upper management is busy hitting the green or entertaining clients at the horseracing track. Do periodic check-ups and send a regional HR rep to speak with us personally. Also, take a look at employees salaries in regards to how long they have been with the company. Women make far less than men in this regard.
