Pros
Flexibility schedule wise is one of the biggest advantage of working with the company.
Cons
Not enough recognition from upper mgt.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote from within.
Pros
1. Interactions with "guests/group leaders". It's nice to meet everyone from different parts of the country and world. Though same faces are nice, different ones are, as well.
Cons
2. Some, not all, "Diamond Hilton Honors" members think they walk on water. Yes, I know they spend lots of money to stay in our hotels, but there's a line between their ego and treating the clerks like human beings.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't just recognize the employees that the guests see, recognize the ones they don't see, especially the housekeepers and maintenance crew. They are just as important as the front desk and the management staff.
Pros
if you enjoy travelling, the team member travel plan is awesome. cheap rooms for you and friends/family. good insurance benefits, hilton pays a good portion of the premium. the vacation time is really great. you earn a set amount each pay period and the amount increases each year you are with the company. and the amount is considerably high. makes up for not being able to have federal holidays off like most companies
Cons
management is ineffective and inept at best. there really isnt any leadership. satisfying the guest is pounded into our heads, but when we go out of our way to help a guest, its never really noticed. the only people who ever recieve recognition are the ones at the front desk or who are constantly in "upper" managements eye sight. people are continually hired that cannot speak english, which makes it very difficult for guests and coworkers to communicate needs/questions to one another. if you want to stay at a hotel and get away with destroying a room or damaging tvs, toilets, walls etc without having to pay a dime, then this is the place to stay. guests are not held responsible for destroying items, and then they can complain that something was wrong in their room (items they destroyed) and get discounted rates blaming housekeeping and maintenance for their problem.
Advice to Senior Management
stop turning a blind eye to things you know are wrong. hold team members accountable for their actions and follow though with punishment/consequences. hire people that actually know how to complete the job requirements. stop skimping on money and hire skilled people who know to do their job and not offer excuse after excuse why tasks arent completed. corporate hilton is clueless about how things are being run on the hotel level, surely if they knew, things would change.
Pros
get to meet a lot of interesting people, that you would would but able to in other work environments.
work life balance
fluid work schedule
Cons
low pay
poor benefits
management only talks to you when you do something wrong , or when the customer feels you did something wrong. never positive reinforcement. raises are all but nonexistent.
Advice to Senior Management
take care of your good employees, they may stay with the company longer.
Pros
great environment, diversity among employees, unlimited opportunities
Cons
traffic to get to work
Pros
Good reputation. Hilton continues to hold a lot of weight in the hotel industry careerwise for your resume.
Cons
Corporate Hotels (owned and/or managed by Hilton Corporation as opposed to a franchised property) --- continually short staffed due to continually decreasing budgets. Management is asked each year to do more on less and for less. Employees at the entry level feel it also as they too have to do more and more for less and less. Hilton has changed...was once the leader in the Hospitality Industry...is now the Hospitality BUSINESS. The corporation only cares about one thing...the bottom line, with absolutely no regard for the employees that make that goal. Check into a corporate hotel sometime and a franchised hotel...notice the difference in the employees. In a corporate hotel, most employees are overworked and it shows in their attitude.
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up! Quit worrying about your own bank accounts and 401k's and show your employees, your greatest resource, the respect they deserve. If you treat them well, they will treat your guests well and the money will flow. It's a basic principle you've all forgotten or are too afraid to speak of.
Pros
good pay, cool discounts for all hilton branded places , and awesome and friendly people you get to work with !!
Cons
long hours and unflexible scheduling and time off/vacation time
Pros
Good hotels, fair management, worldwide locations, growth opportunities, provide challenge at work, nice community, good reputation, employee can stay at Hilton hotels worldwide for as low as $25.

Salary is not the best in the hospitality industry, company is big and growing to top level position is very competitive, some hotels are too old, Hilton brand is tired in the US.
