I have been working at Hilton Worldwide as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

They really care about people and the community and make efforts to go above and beyond

Great benefits - travel discounts are amazing, good healthcare, good retirement program and contribution match, 22 days PTO after the first year

    Cons

Con for me that is a pro for others I guess is that at my particular location most of the management have been here for 10 years and are quite content in where they are. As an assistant manager that means I have to find another property to transfer to if I want to have any kind of career growth. This also makes some of them very stagnant - they are too comfortable with where they have gotten and don't put in the effort anymore the way they really should

I worked at Hilton Worldwide full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The staff are always great and friendly. Benefits were great as well. The best part is how they focus on team work. Mangers would come and help at the desk when it got busy. Most of the customers would be in happy moods.

    Cons

Sometimes felt that the higher management never cared to listen when their employees has issues regarding on how to improve the work place and it's scores. They only wanted scores up

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the team work environment going. It was great knowing the place as a whole helped each other out. And listen to employees not just tell them about numbers.

I have been working at Hilton Worldwide part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Positive, respectful work environment.
    Well-planned, effective training program.
Flexible scheduling that lets me pick my days off.
Good discounts and free hotels after training.
No commute allows me to keep more of the paycheck.

    Cons

    Low hourly rate.
Tough to make all the metrics for potential bonuses, and Hilton network issues negatively impact these metrics.
At times system and network connection issues make it tough to do the job, and they are fairly regular occurrences.
These are the only truly negative issues of consequence I have experienced, so far.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Raise the hourly rate.
Develop a way to more accurately measure and reward our performances.

I have been working at Hilton Worldwide

    Pros

Fellow employees are easy to work with and culture is fairly relaxed. Management cares and is involved without micromanaging.

    Cons

Sales teams can be a bit arrogant, and the employee travel discount program is pretty lacking. Health insurance costs should be lower for a company this size. Hotels seem slow to embrace new technology.

Meeting a great amount of diverse people all around the world, building a social network.
Hilton had great benefits and easy access to better advancement (Of course meaning you might have to jump around from hotel to hotels).

    Cons

The hotel is open 365 days and with no holiday pay.
Job doesn't pay that well for all the responsibilities.

I have been working at Hilton Worldwide full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Hilton is one of the most recognized companies in the world. A job there brings instant credibility and instant respect from your professional network and prospective employers. The culture is generally supportive. Colleagues work together in a constructive and collaborative way. There are many opportunities to work on international projects and learn how to conduct business on a global scale. I learned a lot while I was working there.

    Cons

The company is not very family-friendly. The people who get the most out of it are either very young--i.e. no children--have no children, or have older children--college age or older. The work can be exciting but there is a LOT of it. They run a lean operation over there and they're slow to add headcount as the workload increases. This means logging lots of time at the office to get things done. Also, while their global reach is a huge plus in many areas, it also means a lot of business travel to keep things going. If you have small children and a spouse that works, it can get pretty crazy at home. Meanwhile, their compensation, while nothing to sneeze at, doesn't go very far once you have to shell out for childcare every day. Senior management likes to talk about how work-life balance and employee satisfaction is important to them, but I didn't see them taking many concrete actions to improve it.
