Pros
Level of quality of the hotel compared to others. Meet a lot of motivated, team oriented people. Your manager has a huge impact on whether or not you enjoy your job and I really respect my manager. I feel that I have increased my professionalism, communication and social skills by working here.
Cons
Long hours. New policy stating that front desk members have to stand up during shift (8 hours)! Only 3 shifts: morning 7-3, evening 3-11, night 11-7, so limited flexibility. I am a college student and do not know if I would want to work here for my real job/career.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow STOOLS and I would LOVE this job. My feet hurt really bad.
Pros
lots of perks on the job
Cons
have to be available on weekends
Advice to Senior Management
would like for paid time off
Pros
The opportunities for advancement are good for those who work hard. It is important to excel and to participate in extra service opportunities to be seen.
Cons
With such a large company, you can sometimes get lost in the shuffle. To avoid becoming a 'number', network with upper management.
Advice to Senior Management
Work hard, build relationships, take on extra cross-training opportunities. You will create the network of support and mentors you will need to success in this business.
Pros
Fun work environment
Satisfactory pay
Great for students
Diverse
Cons
No weekends
No raise
Sometime disrespectful guests
Pros
Pay is decent, employees are personable, most of the senior management knows what they are doing to better the company.
Cons
Most of the senior knowledge odes not get passed down to the middle management in terms of how to enact the goals and procedures to the employees below them. Not much room for advancement, except for in a few positions, but many jobs are sourced throughout the Marcus corporation instead of enlisting those already in this particular hotel.
Advice to Senior Management
Communication amongst all levels of employment needs to be reassessed and implemented differently to improve the overall profitability of the company.
Pros
Great opportunity to advance, great benefits for travel. Excellent brand. Your experience depends on what hotel you work at.
Cons
Low pay. They expect you to do a lot with a little. Management is out of touch. Staffing levels are too low.
Advice to Senior Management
Salt scores are too derogatory. Only upset guest complain. Recognize high performing associates.
Pros
They do have a wonderful team member benefit of reduced price for hotel stays inside of their brand and it also includes a family and friends benefit as well.
Cons
Inconsistencies throughout management. Management need to actually do their work instead of pawning it off of regular staff to do mangement job, again I am speaking at a local level
Pros
Leading brand name looks good on resume
Cons
Union kitchen, jack ass F&B department, zero support ex. mangers
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more for better talent!
Pros
good place to learn a lot, meet new people, good working conditions, nice people, they take care of their employees
Cons
one of many (lost in crowd) if you're not liked than you will not be promoted. sometimes long working hours
Advice to Senior Management
listen more to the needs of your employees, switch between duties to avoid boredom, recognize for simple well done tasks
Pros
Very approch-able senior staff and openess for change
Cons
package compared to other 5 star de lux hotel companies
