    Pros

Great place to work, Awesome people, direct managers/execs provide a lot of one on one mentoring.

    Cons

Most of IT is in London, can be challenging at times for the US Operation but engaging for the right person.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engage more with IT, especially in the USA. It's not always easy but there are rewards at the end of that path.

I have been working at Hiscox

    Pros

Good benefits, good hours, plenty of pto

    Cons

Terrible management in ops department. Frustrating watching all the other departments contentment and not having any in the UA population. Overall environment is like being back in high school/scratch that, kindergarten

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since the ops team is centralized in atlanta, maybe a real manager should move here from Manhattan....

    Pros

Entrepreneurial company, young workforce, great opportunities out of college, solid benefits, semi-responsive management. Work can be challenging.

    Cons

Pay is lagging behind the competition, and it shows through the turnover. It seems Underwriters are constantly leaving for other opportunities. Projects undertaken by management can often seem disorganized and forced. Management is not always transparent with decisions and direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on employee retention, especially with such a young workforce. Pay increases seem to target management over the actual Underwriters, which decreases morale- focus on this!

I have been working at Hiscox full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Company offers good benefits and good time off package. Respected company, good reputation. That's about it.

    Cons

One of the worst jobs I've ever held. The outer image does not match the inner realities. Low employee morale, constant pressure towards achieving goals, considers itself a flat organization yet makes every possible attempt at making you feel powerless, absolutely demoralizing work environment. Employees put 150% into the job, work hard and generate a lot of business. Upper management in turn makes no effort at fostering good culture, ensuring happiness of employees. Completely one-sided and thankless work. Mentions of raises are met with a laugh and a shrug, yet responsibilities pile on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your employees, not just the bottom line. They are an asset to your company.

    Pros

Decent pay, lots of opportunities to advance, nice work space, beautiful paintings decorating the office, lots of opportunities to meet upper management.

    Cons

Uninteresting work. inputting data into a computer the entire day. People in the work place didn't make much of an effort of getting to know others in the office.

    I worked at Hiscox full-time

    Pros

    Smart passionate people
Values embedded in daily operations, not just a poster on the wall
Growing organization with a lot of opportunities
    Great work-life balance

    Cons

Executive "fraternity" that you either feel part of, or excluded for - but probably far less many competitors in industry
HR is lagging in development from a small company to a mid-size company - but no major issues

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you're doing, but take extra care to avoid the "C-suite club" (culturally) that makes employees feel arm's length.

    Cons

I have been working at Hiscox full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Mostly everyone has 3-4 years of experience, turnover is not high, benefits are amazing, easy to make friends here, Great PTO days (several more than most companies)

    Cons

Not a lot of flexibility regarding shifts, limited budgets, employees require a lot of "babysitting" and hand holding to get job done but training regimens are being updated to alleviate this

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

work better with employees for competitive pay, many employees complain of dreaming of work on their days off - worried they've forgotten to do something
