    I worked at Hitachi Consulting

    Pros

Good team of people, great knowledge within the peers.

    Cons

Management is a little off in terms of setting priorities and direction, lack of mentorship and clear career progression.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Align resources to the right industry and level, provide opportunities for people to grow within the organization.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Relaxed work culture
    - Geo involvement
    - Small company feel
    - Open door policy, it works too!

    Cons

    - Management doesn't seem to care for your long term plans, especially if you happen to be in the 'core', the premise is that you are an explorer in this group. While that is technically correct, as Consultants within the core generally don't yet have a subject matter expertise, for few others who do, the project assignments are random. You could go from a technology centric project to a process improvement project and everything in-between.
    - If your Career Adviser, who is pretty much randomly assigned to you isn't involved with you, you are toast as far as progressing through the ranks and getting raises/bonuses is concerned. The annual appraisal process is very ineffective and you have no voice in the process. It’s long drawn out, and as many of us have realized, doesn't consider the absolute quantitative metrics, but the relative management perception about you.
    - Sometimes the ethics of resource engagement (at a multinational corporation level) is questionable. Some resources are sold as "SMEs" but mostly learn on the job. Every consulting firm does that to some degree, but that degree seems a little too high here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not to beat a dead horse, but really set up a central mechanism for employees to sound their legitimate concerns anonymously. There is a critical need for that. Clients will buy a charismatic Project Manager's sales pitch only for so long, and then will eventually get tired of it and move on.
Please change the annual review process, many employees don’t like what the end result is as it is inconsistent with the trajectory of their performance, year over year.

I worked at Hitachi Consulting full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    no projects and no work.

    Cons

Don't join into a gloom called Hitachi consulting India and invite the possible doom in your career, this is more applicable to laterals who are working for top notch IT companies based out of Inda/USA ,the empty seats in the company reflects the hollowness in the company, shallowness in the vision and policy of the top management and empty promise it holds for the employees, the company has no projects and for reasons unknown they keep recruiting associates by giving fat hikes in anticipation of getting new projects. The basic flaw in Hitachi consulting India is that it fails to understand that every tender that it addresses will realize into a a prospective purchase order and recruit people on bases of tender it addresses(which they call pipeline) rather than PO in hand ,very rarely they get projects on oracle upgrades primarily from middle east region , Which are short term and they dont have long term implementation projects or production support maintenance in the company.Once the upgrade projects are completed the associates will be on bench with no prospects of getting allocated to new project as they don't have projects.you will hear constant floor talk that the company is about to fire associates.

The sickness in the company is inherited from legacy company Hitachi consulting India acquired sierra Atlanta . The senior management indulges in cheapness by arranging fake interviews just to understand the processes and procedures followed in the top IT companies and with an intent to smarten up the processes in Hitachi consulting India , after an telephonic interview of 30 minutes to 60 minutes and making the associate talk ,no offer is released, Hitachi consulting India or USA doesn't have capabilities to handle huge bids not have the abilities to handle huge projects ,the associates from top notch companies are fooled as they are made to talk in interviews which are fake as they reveal the best practices followed in their organization to the interviewer from Hitachi consulting India.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

the top management in Hitachi consulting India is incompetent and get rid of it before it is too late.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

People: Hitachi Consulting is really good at attracting cool people. The team spirit is excellent, and many employees become good friends. Awesome place to meet new people.

    Cons

Objectives and goals: too much time consuming, for very little outcome! All employees spend hours setting up their goals, self reviewing and discussing them, it's never ending! Yes, salary raise and potential progression/promotion depends on it, but there are way more effective ways of doing this!
Benefits: health insurance is not great . We deserve a better 401K match.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Simplify the whole objectives and goals process.
    Increase 401k match
Align salaries to other consulting companies
