    Pros

Good learning opportunity and great name to put on resume. Lots of doors open up. Management trusts employees by giving large responsibilities.

    Cons

Very conservative large company. Lack of flexibility in terms of lunch hours and monitoring your hours of work. Management expects you to work longer hours just because it us a Japanese company and that's what they do in japan.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more flexible with working our.

Former Employee - Production Associate in Berea, KY

I worked at Hitachi full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Decent wages and benefits but that'd about it for the factory in Berea KY. Nothing else good about this place at all besides your coworkers

    Cons

Although I said wages were decent above, the only way it pays off is because youll.be working 11-12 hour days 6-7 days a week so youll.be getting tons of overtime not too mention that IF you work 6 days straight you are paid double time for Sunday. That's no BS either cause you can ask any employee that works there on the floor and they'll tell you the truth. No air-conditioning out on the floor and it is stifling to say the least. Management does not care about you or your well being, they'll act like they do to pacify you but once they walk away from you they forget your conversation or do the opposite of what they just told you. They say to "Stop Call And Wait" if something goes wrong, if you do they chew your a s s out and threaten your job, alls they care about there are numbers, they'd rather you to keep running even if it's scrap just so they have high production numbers. Overall unless you don't care about any of the above then by all means apply and good luck cause your gonna need it

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to take better care of their employees by giving them time off from work to rest and for family. You have way too high of a turn over rate for the Berea KY factory. Between January 2013 and July 2013 you went through 1,500 people, get a clue they quit because you worked them into the ground 11-12 hours a day 7 days a week for months on end.

I have been working at Hitachi full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting work, great culture, nice people. Nice work-life balance, exposure to different challenges, constantly growing into new product areas. It is a high tech company without a software emphasis; real products are made. The name Hitachi may not have resonance in the marketplace, but it makes a lot of products for other big name companies, like GE, Ford, and others.

    Cons

Not a good fit for people who crave a very large organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engage staff to generate grass roots ideas more.
