I worked at Hollister Co. part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Scheduling is very flexible, good for students looking for a small job in their spare time. You'll get along well with the other associates and most of the managers are great people. AAAs are pretty nice but they only come around once every couple of months.

    Cons

When you're first hired, you won't get many hours (I got more as I worked there longer). The work that you do may be pretty simple but it will get rather boring and repetitive. The store can get very crowded and messy, especially in the summer, because the brand is pretty popular among tourists.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For your associates that work for more than 4 hours straight, consider giving them a 15 minute break so they can recharge their batteries by grabbing a quick snack or giving their feet a rest.

    Pros

Very flexible hours, attractive coworkers, can be very fun.

    Cons

Minimum wage no matter how long you have been working there, customers can get grabby.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is important to make sure that employees understand that they are there to satisfy the customers' experiences.

I worked at Hollister Co. full-time for more than a year

    Pros

All you need to be an assistant manager is a degree. Management is younger and easier to relate to. Hours are flexible.

    Cons

No raises, no advancements. Good job to get a little experience and then move on!! You will not be compensated on how well/hard you work. No overtime pay. High turnover.

I worked at Hollister Co. part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent management, ranging from MIT to District and Regional, high visual and quality standards, high customer service standards, much focus given to loss prevention, lively environment, friendly, fun and hardworking coworkers, team environment fostered. My managers gave great career advice and I am still in contact with most of them. Some have even been resume references.

    Cons

Sometimes would be assigned fewer hours than requested, but management always helped to make sure I was working as much as I wanted. Theft rates high, which depends on the store location. Very physically demanding job, which can be a pro or a con depending on how you look at it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hourly salary varies by state, but more opportunity for promotions and raises would be appreciated.

I worked at Hollister Co. part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I worked for Hollister being given the Model position. I posed in Hollister clothing at the front end of the store and kept the front end clean and orderly. It was a very laid back environment for me and I liked it but this is definitely a stater job unless looking to go corporate.

    Cons

The hours were not great for me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More communication between management and staff.

    Pros

Great job for high school or college, opportunity to work with peers, tasks are fairly easy to execute, youthful environment.

    Cons

Low pay, sporadic hours, little opportunity to advance, employees are hired based on looks (which also determines how often and where you work in the store), store managers were either great or poor; it's a roll of the dice.

I have been working at Hollister Co. part-time for less than a year

    Pros

For a high school student, it's a great way to make money for the time being.

    Cons

Not enough hours because as a high school student you are limited to part time hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your employees more hours and pay, as an incentive to actually want to stand around all day.

    Pros

chill managers who like/dislike their job as much as you do
good work environment to make friends and chill californian culture

    Cons

short breaks, crap hours, strict appearance code
the worst: when you get shifts where you have to call in an hour beforehand to see if they need you to work or not. your schedule for the day revolves around that.

Former Employee - Overnight in Honolulu, HI

I worked at Hollister Co. part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay, you don't deal with customers, freedom to listen to music, no dress code, you don't have to clock out for breaks, insurance is nice.

    Cons

Hours (usually 5 or less), they only allow 15 min. breaks regardless of how long you work (8 hours and you only get 15 min break). Sometimes breaks are not enforced, so you work without breaks. No raise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please use common sense. If the store needs to look immaculate and you want to get out in 4.5 hours, please schedule more people. Turn over rate is high because of schedule inconsistency, I've met people that didn't get scheduled for 2 weeks. Get rid of call-ins, it's pointless, it's like you saying you're going to give us candy, but you change your mind. If work goes beyond a certain number of hours, enforce another 15 min. break, and let the employees refuel. Lastly, if you can't schedule more people and want to get out on time, I suggest you start folding and helping the team out. Being a part of management doesn't mean you get to not work.
