I worked at Hollywood Casino (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The employees are like family. They care for one another, look out for each other, help their fellow co-workers when they are in need.

    Cons

The level of customer service PNG is known for has decreased due to "right-sizing". The overall guest experience has suffered.

    Advice to Management

Don't trip over a dollar to save a penny. Put the people who care enough to deliver the absolute best in customer service back on the floor.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Hollywood Casino full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have a great boss and co-workers. The benefits are not to bad.

    Cons

At times in can be a difficult place to work. Working from 9 PM until 530AM is hard on home life. There is a lot of friction between upper management and the people who actually keep the place open and making money. I do not care for working for an establishment that takes money from weak minded people.

    Advice to Management

Give credit and respect to the service employees that put up with a lot of grief to keep this place looking good.

I have been working at Hollywood Casino full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Only casino in Cbus. Fun experience if you have enough help to serve people properly.

    Cons

Always short staffed and struggling to take care of customers. Not enough waitresses, dealers, bartenders, cooks, cashiers, etc, etc. Gets frustrating

    Advice to Management

Hire the people needed to operate. You have to spend money to make money!

I worked at Hollywood Casino full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

When there's action going on or a band playing, it can be a lot of fun to people-watch the drunk and stupid, and you can get some nice tips. If you just wanna make some extra money, it's not a terrible place to work.

    Cons

Dull times when nothing is happening and your watch seems to be broken. Irritating and inebriated people getting in your face. Disgusting gambling addicts.

I have been working at Hollywood Casino part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No players blowing smoke in your face. Potential to move up. Fast paced. Paid breaks. Lots of little drawings, friendly competitions and give aways for the employees.

    Cons

Zero chance for a decent shift unless you're part time or have been there since they have opened considering its seniority based. Say hello to working every single weekend.

I have been working at Hollywood Casino (Less than a year)

    Pros

Smoke-free work environment is a nice change from the last casino I worked in.

    Cons

Pay is below industry standard for every position, in every department. Staffing needs are critical, and turnover rate is very high.

    Advice to Management

If you compensate your employees fairly, and treat them with respect, the experience and talent will stay. You get what you pay for.
