    Pros

Great, friendly work environment. A lot of promoting from inside. Management is very good at communicating necessary information. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Not really company cons, mainly just con of the industry. No weekends. No holidays. Customers can be a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Keep your employees happy. Keep their breaks regular. Get tables closed when you can and send people home, keep the toke rate up

    Pros

Its a Part Time Job... Fellow employees are really good people !!!

    Cons

Management doesn't care about keeping employees happy, because employees are a dime a dozen. They will fire a person for 1 mistake and not think twice about. They will just go out and hire someone that has NO EXPERIENCE in what they are doing just to have someone in that position. I really don't trust these people... I worked for a major hotel / casino in Las Vegas and I know this is no way to run a casino... You want your employees to be happy so it reflects on to your guest.....

    Advice to Management

You came to our area and I suggest treating the local people that work you with a lot more respect. Also stop being so quick to terminate good people.

I worked at Hollywood Casino at Penn National full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pto accrual used to be better but still not bad. Has moments of good communication. Depending on department, theres opportunity for advancement. Decent amount of employee discounts with other companies.

    Cons

Some perks were cut including ones that made compensation not so bad. Break downs in communication happen too frequently inside departments as well as between departments. High tendency for people to be promoted that shouldn't be that leads to high frustrations in dealing with them and daily job more difficult. Some departments are worse than others and turnover rate shows but they also have the most opportunities for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Work on communication. Pay closer attention to who is promoted. Keep working on employee relations, its not terrible in some areas but theres still room for improvement across the board.

    Cons

Enjoy working every weekend and every holiday. You are not allowed to take any days off between dec23 and jan 2

    Advice to Management

Poor management. Management does not care for the needs of employees and the world revolves around upper management.

I worked at Hollywood Casino at Penn National part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Most of the employees are very nice. Although employment is part-time, you are able to get in very close to full-time hour. Pay rate is similar to higher than average for the position.

    Cons

Absolutely NO communication between management and employees. Did not work the job I was hired for. Hired as a cook 1 (highest level) but only worked as a buffet line attendant. Rarely able to clock out at stated closing time, normally stuck working 1-2 or more hours after scheduled shift ends When hurt on job, supervisor had me wash blood off as much as possible and continue working. Never filed an incident report. The next day, after getting stitches in hand, they had me handling the food (with bleeding hand) and submerging hand in greasy water throughout shift. Needed to go back to ER after shift was over. Hand became infected and still never had an incident report filled out by supervisor. Little to no organization in the food and beverage department. Extremely high turnover rate!

    Advice to Management

Communicate with employees better. Need much better organization/management in the food and beverage department. High turnover rate should give the hint that something is very wrong

I worked at Hollywood Casino at Penn National part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You're working at a playground for adults, good managers and supervisors, fun teams and high morale. Nice employee facilties (break room, smoking lounge, kitchen, locker rooms).

    Cons

Mandatory overtime, refusal results in disciplinary action. Licensing period can be a hassel, especially if moving between departments. Not much room for advancement, and there are monthly mandatory trainings. You're paid, but you have to come in on your days off.

    Advice to Management

More timely responses to employees in need.
