Pros
Flexible Hours, a sense of teamwork, the ability to make customers satisfied, good training, gives you the skills to be able to overcome objections, and deal with conflicts
Cons
Unsatisfied customers (although I am sure this happens at every store), I was called into work at random times when I was off scheduld, and expected to be there at moments notice
Advice to Senior Management
Management should take a calm approach to dealing with employee problems. Raising ones tone is not the most effective way to handle workers.
Pros
- coworkers are great
- Fun environment
- Free movie rentals
- Real team environment
- great recognition for good performance
Cons
- low pay (then again, it is retail)
- high turnover (but this is common in retail)
- low pay (this is common in retail)
- must often work long hours as a manager
- corporate office never had a consistent vision of how to run the company, one minute it would be one strategy, and we all had to change the store and get on board with an initiative, only to have a new strategy and grand plan a month later.
Advice to Senior Management
The executives tried a million strategies -- many of them bad -- but nothing was able to save the company. We've all moved on with our lives since then.
Pros
free movie rentals, easy place to work, friendly co workers, discounts on merchandise, good corporate structure, safe workplace, easy scheduling,
Cons
boring, unfufilling, occasionally annoying customers, bad holiday overtime, incompetent management, flourescent lights, on your feet all day, late hours on weekends
Advice to Senior Management
My manager was put to work before he finished management training and it made it impossible to work because he had no idea how to solve even the smallest of problems. Have your store managers finish their training before putting them to work.
Pros
nice movie selections great employees
Cons
terrible to react to fast moving technology being a leader in the industry
Advice to Senior Management
poor top management put this company out of business.no life w/o Mark WattlesHe rocked once he sold all down hill
Pros
Great working with customers if you have an outgoing personality.
Cons
They don't care about their employees and it shows with the turn around.
Advice to Senior Management
Do your 30 and 90 day reviews and allow employees to give ideas and opinions to better store quality.
Pros
Good pay and hours, free movies
Cons
No benefits to speak of whatsoever
Advice to Senior Management
How about some benefits
Pros
I was able to gain a lot of management experience.
Great job for those who enjoy movies and customer service.
Very competitive work environment.
Cons
When the company was downsizing, they kept the shady senior management.
Very low pay scale.
Too many programs going on at once.
Advice to Senior Management
If the company ever makes a come back, they need to focus more on taking care of the customers and renting games/movies, instead of pushing overpriced novelty items. Also, there needs to be more checks and balances on senior management.
Pros
Easy work pace. Can work around a students schedule. Everything basic is a week of training. This job needs no experience to start.
Cons
Promotions take awhile and your bosses change quickly, so it is hard to get noticed. If you're not close to your DM getting a good raise is impossible.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote top talent. keep those that work hard even if they have attitudes at times. Fire those who slack off entirely too much, the ones that talk more then they work.
Pros
Free rentals were nice, still having a job would be nicer.
Cons
The upper managment failed to share information with store managment and instead of doing their own jobs were out on interviews while telling everyone that "it's all under control"
Advice to Senior Management
Please, talk to your employees
Pros
Perks, free movies and other stuff was pretty cool about the company, did not like some manangement at the location
Cons
poor management, slow, not much to do, lack of responsibilities, slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow
Advice to Senior Management
they should do a better job when it comes to trainging employees on how to do their jobs properly with ease
