I worked at Hologic full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

For the Suros Surgical Systems divison of Hologic, the focus on customer needs was fantastic. The fact that Product Development was founded on customer interaction was a great advantage in the innovation of the products.

    Cons

The Indianapolis site was not perceived well by corporate and was closed in 2013. Corporate leadership did not value the culture or worth of the Indianapolis employees.

I worked at Hologic full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The people I worked with and products I worked on were great, I really enjoyed the passion and purpose.

    Cons

In 2013 a number of lay-offs occurred, which were unexpected, and affected the division. The lay-offs were not based on performance, and a number of lower performing people remained at the company - political approach.

    I worked at Hologic

    Pros

Lots of talented people within the organization. Great focus on women's health.
They paid pretty good salaries, as long as you worked hard, and they also gave great bonuses.
The work-life balance was good, but that was only a reflection of my direct supervisor.

    Cons

For a company that was focused on women's health, there were no women working in any top management positions. The top management had no clue how to make the workers feel important or that they were making a difference. They basically gave the impression that the bottom line was the only important thing to consider.

I have been working at Hologic full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Market leader in GYN. World Class products. Weak competitive field. Great product branding.

    Cons

Poor product pipeline. Lack of new product launch. Lack to retain tenured employees. No directional to the future. Focus on stock price versus employee satisfaction and moral.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on retaining versus hiring. Provide a clear communication channel versus mixed messages from upper management to mid level management.

I have been working at Hologic

    Pros

Good people, between life and work balance, focus on life

    Cons

Depending on which group, takes a LONG time to go from Contract to Full Time. This is especially true in Engineering groups.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tie down your talented workers, because other companies will reap the benefit of an already polished candidate.

I have been working at Hologic full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The products that Hologic makes are top notch. The research is robust and the quality of the results is high.

    Cons

In efforts to try and find a unified voice for all the companies that were purchased through the years, the company spends much of its time on marketing and branding and the well-being and happiness of the employees is no longer a concern. Every year the costs of the benefits to the employees goes up, while salaries are not getting even inflation adjustments and bonuses are something that non top management employees can not rely on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget that the reason the technology is good and products are pushed out the door meeting crazy time-lines are the employees. Savings in salaries now are just making people unhappy, once all the people with the core knowledge leave, no amount of money in the world will be able to restore the strength of this company.
