Good summer job for college students. Rome to move into driving position

    Cons

Long hours especially for drivers. Bagging hours weren't bad great seasonal work

    Pros

Had decent hours, work some by yourself, management wasn't always breathing down your neck

    Cons

Not the best pay, hours could be very short or very long. Management was... bad to say the least

    Advice to Management

Don't say pay will be better than it is. 10/hr if riding with someone .8% by yourself

    Pros

Flexible schedule is great for students. Their high demand occurs the same time as most vacation periods (summer break, spring break, holiday weekends, etc) so I always had a job while home on break from school

    Cons

pay is decent but you need to work very hard and very long hours

    Pros

-You get trained on how to stack and bag ice from people who know all of the tricks of the trade.
-Very laid back environment where no one is breathing down your neck to finish your job.
-If you work with other productive people then breaks can be long where you basically get help other workers, or go get lunch.

    Cons

Some times a co-worker would come in late and slack off.

    Advice to Management

    Nothing!

    Pros

In my two summers of working for HCI, i've had very supportive bosses and great coworkers. The management goes out of their way to make sure you can accomplish your job as safely as possible and are flexible with schedules.

    Cons

This job is physically demanding and requires 9-12 hours of non-stop movement. The only rest you get is when you're driving in between deliveries. This job is commissioned based so depending on how hot the day is (the hotter the weather, the more ice you sell) and the location of your route, you may not make a lot of money.

    Advice to Management

Work to improve routes so that all drivers have the best opportunity to make as much money as possible each day. Also, consider giving drivers GPS systems for directions to unfamiliar locations.

    Pros

I guess the only pro I can think of would be the flexible schedule...not much else to brag about.

    Cons

Well, I applied via an add I seen online. Went in for my interview at 930am, and the manager wasn't there. Gave him a call and he told me he had a Dr's appointment he had forgot about...ok, no big deal. Started the next day with a trainer who had been with the company for 4 years...not much of a trainer I'd later find out. Pretty much learned everything by taking control and telling my trainer he wasn't doing a good job. Then I trained with the manager...again, very little depth was given. Pretty much had no idea how to run a terminal. Manager was always late, would never have routes up for the next day. I can't count how many times myself and the other drivers stood around waiting for the boss to get in. Checks were always less then what they should have been, had to call the District manager to correct it. Trucks were unsafe, was told to just deal and I'll be fine. Mdot violations left and right, just overall a sloppy company. Ended up trainer a couple of kids even though I was not certified to do so. I could go on but I'll stop now.

Stay away in my opinion. Not worth the headache.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who are dependable. Get better more qualified individuals.
