    Pros

The work is great fun and exercise. The environment is extremely rewarding and is goal driven at a basic level. Bosses and fellow employees alike tend to be very nice and cooperative.

    Cons

The work can get tough after a while. Only people who are physically fit should seek this job. Long days and weeks can leave you feeling exhausted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The yearly swap of the equipment tends to cause more problems than its worth.

    good part-time job

I have been working at Home City Ice

    Pros

You are able to determine hours and how much money you make for the most part. This is a great summer job for college students.

    Cons

They expect you to complete your route wether that means it a 4 hour day or an 18 hour day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

allow employees more room for left over stops. Days can become ridiculous long and thats why you lose good employees.

  3.

    Pros

Very laid back. Take a lot of breaks. You don't have to load more then 10 trucks.

    Cons

If your a bagger you constantly have to work. It's cold if your a loader. Your hands constantly freeze .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Supply workers with company gloves & face covers so they can stay warm longer

I have been working at Home City Ice full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

No comparison in earnings to other summer college jobs. Low amount of micromanagement/ oversight. Career opportunities after graduation or a good reference and connections if you work hard.

    Cons

Not sure if it's a con, but you have to work for what you get. If you're looking to coast, look elsewhere. It's hard work but the money and autonomy are there if you have the motivation to do it.

I worked at Home City Ice part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

They will hire almost anyone for the job, and it is hard to be fired (unless you simply don't show up for work).

    Cons

From my experience, management was a little too lax, did not perform their jobs very well, and very little training is provided.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better training given to new employees.

I have been working at Home City Ice

    Pros

Good work for someone out of highschool, commission based pay gives incentive to work hard, management (at least at my plant) worked with me on a lot and was always very helpful

    Cons

Junk trucks, long hot days in the summer, very labor intensive, if you don't get laid off for winter- it's a horrible time to deliver ice

I worked at Home City Ice part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I worked here part-time in the office. My boyfriend was the one who told me they were hiring, they hire friends and family mainly not a lot of job postings for office positions. Kathy was amazing, she worked with my other jobs crazy hours and showed me everything needed to get my job done.

    Cons

    long hours for drivers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Post job listings and stop hiring every driver's buddy.

I worked at Home City Ice part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

You can make decent money here in college or when you're younger. Other than that, there isnt much room for advancement besides being a plant manager

    Cons

Not much training besides shadowing a driver. It pretty much consists of cautionary messages even though they text and call you while you're driving.
