Pros

A company with a long history of customer focus, a stable future and a vision that is bringing it back to the new glory days. Rubbing elbows with some of the most talented people I have ever known. Home Depot has successfully transitioned to a new Senior Leadership team that has a strong vision of how to regain what was lost under the previous administration.

Cons

Communications can be weak at times, hours can be long and reorganizations are frequent. At times if can be very unclear why some leaders are where they are.

Be very careful of leaders who have too strong of an opinion, confidence is good, being sure that you know the one true path can be a recipe for disaster.

Good benefits help offset the low pay. There is a great feeling of community which helps us all get through the ups and downs of life.

The poor pay coupled with the difficulty to upgrade from part time to full time. There is never enough coverage to handle the needs of the customers without being rushed and feeling the need to get to the next question in line.

Theft is so bad and the training stresses that the best lost prevention is good customer service so put enough people on the floor to cover the customers with incredible service.

Favortism is everywhere in the Home Depot!

If you have an idea at the Home Depot, you are usually listened to and management will consider your idea and it won't just sit in a PPT like it would at many other companies.

Cons

Not a great work-life balance. In retail, for the first 5 years, you only get 10 days vacation (unlimited sick though).

I usually enjoy my work at The Home Depot. The only issue I have are the vacation days for employees.
