Advice to Senior Management
none. the leadership is very knowledgeable and trust worth. they work well as a team an understand how to help benefit the company as a whole
Pros
A company with a long history of customer focus, a stable future and a vision that is bringing it back to the new glory days. Rubbing elbows with some of the most talented people I have ever known. Home Depot has successfully transitioned to a new Senior Leadership team that has a strong vision of how to regain what was lost under the previous administration.
Cons
Communications can be weak at times, hours can be long and reorganizations are frequent. At times if can be very unclear why some leaders are where they are.
Advice to Senior Management
Be very careful of leaders who have too strong of an opinion, confidence is good, being sure that you know the one true path can be a recipe for disaster.
Pros
ability to grow within company, part time benefits
Cons
sometimes lack recognition when work is good
Advice to Senior Management
pay attention to what employees ask for
Pros
Good benefits help offset the low pay. There is a great feeling of community which helps us all get through the ups and downs of life.
Cons
The poor pay coupled with the difficulty to upgrade from part time to full time. There is never enough coverage to handle the needs of the customers without being rushed and feeling the need to get to the next question in line.
Advice to Senior Management
Theft is so bad and the training stresses that the best lost prevention is good customer service so put enough people on the floor to cover the customers with incredible service.
Pros
dependable was paid okay and good conditions
Cons
did not think they would cut staff due to slow economy but they did, now i need to find some thing
Pros
good communication, benefits, some management very capable
Cons
hit and miss on individual management
Advice to Senior Management
teach people how to be managers before promoting them
Pros
ability to learn and grow
Cons
labor controls and direction of future growth
Advice to Senior Management
losen up
Pros
Great learning opportunities if you are a hard worker
Cons
Long hours as with any retail job
Advice to Senior Management
Bring back some of the passion Bernie and Arthur created
Pros
Working at the home depot was very easy.
Cons
Favortism is everywhere in the Home Depot!
Pros
If you have an idea at the Home Depot, you are usually listened to and management will consider your idea and it won't just sit in a PPT like it would at many other companies.
Cons
Not a great work-life balance. In retail, for the first 5 years, you only get 10 days vacation (unlimited sick though).
Advice to Senior Management
I usually enjoy my work at The Home Depot. The only issue I have are the vacation days for employees.
